I just now saw this because I literally never sign in here and this story is like... three years old.

But if I recall correctly, the point wasn't their relationship irl so much as it was the completion of a random prompt. The characters involved were generated randomly between my friend and I. It could've very well been literally anyone in the scene. The prompt was just to see if I could write a scene between two random characters and the given subject within the allotted time of 15 minutes.
