haha, I love how your post is all "[time]: WTF THIS MAKES NO SENSE/IS SO OFF THE RAILS" and at the end is all "A+++!!".

I haven't been able to watch this season, yet, because I made the mistake of rewatching before the premiere and I just. I don't have the kind of faith others do, that this random jaunt through bizarre mysticism and plotlines of leftfieldism has a sensible endgame. (I think I've been burned too many times by scifi, and have trust Issues.)

"What d'you hear, Starbuck?" / "Nothin' but the rain." CRY, I loved this show so very very much. when it was at its apex, it, like, transcended TV. ...er, not to swing by your LJ and hyperbole all over the place.

I KNOW, RIGHT? It was all out of control in the middle, but wrap things up with a solid two minutes of throwback-filled love, and throw a few choice Tigh moments in there, and I'll cut this show lightyears of slack.

I have big trust issues, too, but before S4 I rewatched just the very beginning, rather than going into S2 and 3 when things start to go totally off the rails -- and in the beginning I had that faith, so I'm really trying to hold it together. I guess the thing with this episode was that, even though it was objectively full of stupid/unbelievable things, it seemed to have something of the overall sensibility of the show I used to love? Which I really hadn't seen at all this season up 'til now. It doesn't take much to keep me hanging on with a show I've loved so hard.

er, not to swing by your LJ and hyperbole all over the place.

Ahahah -- I think I did a drive-by friending on your LJ and then never commented, wretch that I am, so no need to apologize. And hyperbole is always welcome around these parts. :>

I've been really frustrated this whole season so far, but with this episode it was just like -- even though I noticed and pointed out all the things which seemed ridiculous, I was still just so happy to have something which felt like my old show back. And I'd really lost that faith up until now, but now I think I believe again that the ending will be brilliant. It's a good feeling. :D

(And, yeah, that's another thing I should have added -- I was really not down with Adama's manpain, and handing over the reins to Tigh of all people seemed like a decision not at all in keeping with what we know of Adama's character. I love Tigh like crazy, but, seriously? And I love Adama/Roslin, too, but, seriously?I liked Lee better in uniform, too. :/ Basically I just really miss the days when he and Kara were punkass pilots and had their whole hatesex vibe going on all the time ( ... )

Every time I think I can't take this show's fingerpainting, dead-cat-in-a-bag, President Bigalow Space Gigolo shenaniganry for one second longer? They put Michael Hogan on screen and I couldn't look away if I tried.

God, yes. Hogan completely sold me on Tigh in this, as he does every week. I didn't like the episode as a whole as much as you did - I thought the Lee and Badger parts were awfully lame filler - but the old people and their drama and fighting was awesome.

I too love Doc Cottle.

It's funny -- re-reading my instantaneous reactions I can see that a lot of them were of the "oh my god, what is happening here" persuasion, but somehow the overall vibe I got from the episode made me really, really happy, despite all the individual instances of WTF. Somehow it just felt like a return to the show of old, which I've really missed this season.

I love Hogan, and Tigh, increasingly by the second. Damn, he's good. (And to anyone expressing disgust at the Caprica/Tigh thing, I just say: grow the #$&*% up already. If I can own up to the fact that I have a crush on a man three times my age, well, everyone else and their ridiculous ideas about what's attractive can get in line.)

AHAHAHA I SO KNEW YOU WOULD BE THE ONLY ONE TO CATCH THAT REFERENCE. XD

But yeah. Doesn't he bear a distracting resemblance to David Hewlett? Or am I just crazy?

(And yeah, honestly. I was okay with the suits! Keep wearing the suits! But the maroon shirt, unbuttoned halfway to his navel -- I kept expecting to see chest hair, even though I know he doesn't have any. That shirt is a bad, bad scene.)

I KNEW I had seen him before somewhere but couldn't place it! XD And yeah, he really does. If SGA ever need to introduce an alternate universe where Rodney has a brother, it had better be that guy.

I'm pretty sure Bamber waxes. In his tender Hornblower years he has chest hair! But yeah, the suits are fine. Anything that makes it look like cheesy gigolo pick-up lines are about to come out of his mouth - not fine.

I'm almost done with the beta, btw. Just chewing over a few thoughts.

I have this compulsion where I constantly see actors I recognize from other stuff and immediately look them up to find all the other things they've been in. (Let's just say that "to IMDb" is an accepted and commonly-used verb around these parts.) It's even worse with the 2353648 sci-fi shows which are/have been filmed here, since the talent pool is so small that there's endless crossover between shows, and since I actually wind up knowing (or knowing someone who knows) a significant proportion of that talent. Although -- alas -- I have yet to find anyone who can set me up to meet David Hewlett. :>

True! I just remember the infamous Lee-in-a-towel-scene from S1, where he's silky smooth. :D

(Awesome, re: beta -- and again, no rush.)
