Yer welcome XD. (This didn't show up in my inbox until today, for some reason.)

Is "loving people no matter what, even if they're really messed up" really a transgressive message in the context of shoujo manga? It sounds, in certain contexts, really like a Christian thing.

Huh. I guess there is that. But...do you read Loveless? The reason Ritsuka loves people who treat him badly is that his mother abuses him. (She's kind of an hysteric.) Other characters, like his therapist and Youji and Natsuo (another fighter/sacrifice pair) are always telling him that he doesn't have to put up with treatment like that or that it's okay to recognize that he's in a bad situation, to bring in a little critical judgment, but he just can't bring himself to reject either his mother or his brother (the only person who stood up for him against their mother, and also, a total sociopath).

I don't think Yun Kouga is necessarily condemning anyone (besides Seimei...), but she is kind of saying that personalities like this don't just spring out of nowhere, there's some genuine trauma behind them.

I've read the first two vols in the commercial translation.

I didn't say she was condemning anyone? But I think actually, that IS transgressive, to say that that kind of personality is a result of severe damage, resulting in lack of boundaries, rather than just being an ideal (you know, like the ultra-naive character who accepts everyone has been seen a lot in shoujo manga.)

Ahhh. Welllll, what I'm saying is that the manga started from a position of "here are some really messed up characters, but see, they're (sort of) okay!" to saying that actually...maybe they're not so okay. Ritsuka is one example, maybe, but the prime example is probably Soubi. You remember, some of his predilections (like the one for pain) really freak Ritsuka out at first, and Soubi's response is "Well, but isn't it okay?"

But in sixth and seventh volumes, which focus more on Soubi, you find out why he's like that and you root for him to break ties with Seimei (who exasperates the problem) and choose Ritsuka (accepts but doesn't embrace it) instead.

I love Nobuta. <3 I have a feeling I'd like it even more once I'm out of high school and forget how horrible everything is and start missing it.

Someone is going to die because they're getting on your nerves or because you're forecasting it...? ^^; It sounds like you didn't finish the whole episode yet, because I remember the wishes thing being resolved in the first episode...?

You shall see what Shuji is getting out of all this! At least finish episode three?? *hopeful look!* In that episode, you'll see him do even more things he doesn't need to do. xD

Am checking out the Kyou Kara Maou link, thanks!

I watched all of episode one! I'm forecasting a tragic death based on:

1. The message on Nobuta's desk ("die").

2. Shuji's ominous voiceover ("but what we didn't know is that events would develop in a direction that...")

3. The ending credits. (THE PIGS. ON THE MOTORCYCLE. WAHHH.)

4. Certain rumors I accidentally overheard a long time ago -_-;.

I'm glad to hear that the plot does cover Shuji's (mysterious) reasons. *queues episode 2*

Oh, duh, I forgot about the 'die' scribbled on her desk. T_T Haha, and if you don't know about the correlating story behind the pigs yet, ask someone after you've finished the series. Hopefully you shall watch all of it, and you'll probably figure it out on your own anyway. XD XD You don't want to know it yet, believe me (it's kind of a spoiler....)! Unless you already know, haha.

Keep watching! :D :D
