I loved the Bellboy and Errandboy. They're very artistic... and no, I know what you mean. I think it's sad more than anything cuz they *belong* together and Jerry knows it and it bleeds into a lot of his work :'-(
I like artistic. Maybe I'm expecting too much. I should drastically lower my expectations, then I'll be shocked by the quality of reality. Or maybe I should re-watch Errandboy again with a more open mind...learn to appreciate Jerry for Jerry.
Hm, yeah, you have to look at it completely differently. His work with Dean, and after they broke apart, you can't really compare them...his performance is completely different, without Dean to play off of. The only one I've seen so far with just Jerry on his own was 'The Nutty Professor' and I liked it a lot, even though at first I did miss Dean very much, it was obvious that Jerry did too and that made it better somehow. I thought the movie was brilliant. His anger, frustration, and heartbrokenness show through in wonderfully tense and dramatic scenes. So yes, give him another shot ~_^ Just remember that his heart is bleeding for his lost love, and it shows )-':
