I think you should go and try them on and decide by which feels better to walk in.

I like the flat pair better, but that's because I'm really not a fan of heels. They remind me of the ones I got last winter.

(On the other hand, after several disasters, I am never buying boots from Clarks again, so really I suggest you look somewhere else!)

Yes, I remember you had problems. On the other hand, my current pair of ankle boots is from Clarks and I've been wearing them for at least 6 or 7 winters without any problem. They are getting a bit worn now, though they are still watertight. So I'm inclined to give them another go.

I hope that whichever pair you get is OK. They were quite good at taking back the knee-high boots which leaked, anyway, and would probably have done the same with the ankle boots if I'd actually realised they leaked less than a year after buying them (I only really wear ankle boots in early autumn and last year that was quite dry!).

I'd go for the first, despite the hideous spelling mistake.

I am sort of leaning that way because they are so lovely. They're more expensive though, and possibly less practical.

But so pretty... :-)

Oy. Which one is misspelled? I've seen both Mascapone and Mascarpone in various places in my life. Unless the cafe is supposed to have an accent or something?

I think in American, neither of those words is nesc. misspelled.

Thanks for bringing this discussion to the internets. I have been pondering pretty much exactly the same question. I think I like the first pair better but worry about whether I will be able to walk 4+ miles a day in them.

I don't walk 4+ miles in a day, but I do often walk a mile or two, and that is the issue I am most worried about. I shall have to go and try them on and see what I think.

For a mile or two, I'd go for the ones with heels. Four miles plus, definitely the flats.

I'm having the same problem as you - I prefer the styling of the first pair but I know they would make my feet ache because I'm dreadful with heels. I'd try them on and see how comfy they are in person, if you aren't intending to do that much walking the first pair may suit you just fine.
