Observed Outfit of the Day

I saw the most stylish woman on the subway this morning. I found myself memorizing all the details of her look so I could share it here. It was a wonderful combination of earth tones and neutrals that just popped, even in the grim lighting of the train

That does sound lovely. But I think I need a bit of translation - what's a muffler? (some kind of scarf?) And Ascot tie??

A muffler is a long woolen scarf. "Ascot tie" was probably a poor description, actually, What I meant to indicate was that she had one end flipped through the other in a cascading knot in front, more like a stock tie, I guess. At any rate, not wound around her neck or flipped over her shoulders, a nice, neat vertical shape. (About like this, but her scarf was a bit smaller and shorter.)

Now if only I knew what to call that little felted tail on the top of a classic French beret.
