Observed Outfit of the Day

Mar 20, 2009 10:30

I saw the most stylish woman on the subway this morning. I found myself memorizing all the details of her look so I could share it here. It was a wonderful combination of earth tones and neutrals that just popped, even in the grim lighting of the train.

Cream-colored cuffed trousers in tropic-weight wool
Black high-heeled shoes with black tights
Black wool muffler in ascot tie
Black felt beret
Vast, retro mohair coat with oversized round collar in shade somewhere between butterscotch and mustard
Carpetbag in variegated brown/black/cream nubby tweed with black leather accents

She had a bronzey-tawny skin tone that blended perfectly with the colors of her outfit, and very short hair so the beret sat straight on, with the little tail on the top making it almost a beanie. And the long, shaggy mohair fabric of the coat contrasted with the smooth finishes of the other garments. So chic.
