I find it telling that *if* it indeed happened the way he claimed, she called *the day before* and warned him. He had plenty of time to get the dogs to a safer location...

He doesn't seem like a BYB, to be honest. He actually seems to have the health of his dogs as one of his priorities. He's taking steps not to breed dogs that have health problems and getting them vaccinated. I'm not saying he's running the bestest breeding operation ever, just that you're being overly harsh.

A restraining order is not some magical circle of protection. If she burned down that barn, she clearly has no respect for the law when trying to make her point, and would not have been stopped by a restraining order.

She could have been arrested for harassing him over the phone if the proper order was in place.

I don't have any respect for BYBs, no matter how clean they might appear to be, sorry.

Speak for yourself. For all we knoe he set the barn on fire himself.

And for all we know, YOU set fire to the barn.

No, I'm not actually accusing you, but you really can't make that kind of call.

Then stop assuming that SHE set the fire.

You seem to be assuming it too with the whole "He should've called the police" /restraining order stuff.

Assuming she didn't, what should he have done then? What if the fire was an accident? What if it was struck by lightning? Fires happen all the time. People and animals die, no matter what, and sometimes there's nothing you can do about it. Who's to blame then?

If I'm not allowed to speculate on whyo set the fire,m then neither are you. Fair is fair.

What if the fire was an accident? What if it was struck by lightning? Fires happen all the time. People and animals die, no matter what, and sometimes there's nothing you can do about it. Who's to blame then?

Then HE shouldn't be blaming anyone.

Like I said, you seemed to be basing your arguments on the assumption that SOMEONE set the barn on fire. Given all your restraining order/police talk, I assumed it was the woman in question. It could be any of a great many people.

She made a threat. It wasn't a specific threat, but it was a threat nonetheless. It's entirely logical to suspect her, and that's exactly what police would do.

What if it was an arsonist, but it wasn't her? What if it was some random asshole who likes setting things on fire? Would you still be complaining that his property isn't arson-proof so clearly he should've taken proper precautions?

Why are you so offended because I dared suggest that he was complacent?

Because you're being judgmental of a person you don't even know, have never seen, and have never spoken to.

You are doing the same thing. I am allowed to speculate. This is SPO, not "lets pretend we're jesus"."

Heh, you're really funny.

You know, whenever something bad happens to you, someone could go over it with a fine-tooth cynic comb and speculate on all the ways it was your fault, too. Rear-ended by someone at a stop sign? Clearly, you should've stopped a few feet further out. Have a brick fall on you while walking through town? You should've worn a helmet. Someone push you in the mud? You should've gotten a restraining order before that happened.

Anyone is allowed to think whatever they want. Just because I suggested that this guy might not be honest does not mean I'm evil.
