So yesterday I one of my friends told me a story about something that happened to her recently. She went and bought a dog from a puppy farm. She said that the premises were relatively clean that the owner had done hip checks on both of the parents, and that the puppies had all their first pre-shots and records of it. Which I guess is why she bought from this guy. However, she said the place was very much a puppy farm, lots of different types of dogs being bred. Anyway as she is talking to the guy she remarks to him that he seems to have a lot less of the breed she was buying than some of the other dogs. And this is what he told her. "We lost them in the fire, there is a crazy lady from the humane society who tries to put us out of business each year. Last year she called us up the day before she did it and said "I am going to put you out of business" then the next day she set fire to my barn." He then told my friend that this lady is the head of the humane society in the area.
When I heard this story I was shocked. I am not supporting puppy farms at all, but isn't there a more humane way of fighting this sort of thing than burning the dogs alive? I mean at the very least she could try to have them shut down for something, but burning the barn down. It just really astounded me. When I was told this story all I could think of what how those poor dogs must have felt being burned alive inside a barn that they could not escape.
