Unfortunately extremists often do things like this.

There was a case in the U.K. where a group of animal liberationists released all the minks in a farm - where they commenced to slaughter all of the small, native animals in the area.

When I was younger I thought it'd be great to release all the animals from zoos and stuff, but then I got educated and realised how dumb it would be to do that and it wouldn't do any of the animals any good. Alas, some people never develop rational thinking about these things.

wowo, that was a well thought out plan--release a NASTY little animal into an environment that they aren't native to....wheeee.

and this barn burning thing sounds like something a PETA member would do....crazy.

Not to say minks are NASTY though, they're cute!

I agree with the "extremists are crazy" sentiment.

What did you say to your friend about buying from a puppy mill?

Well of course I didn't agree with it and told her so, but she was set on getting it because of the fact that the puppy had its pre-shots and that the parents had their hips checked. Sometimes it is hard to get through to people.

Yeah. I guess it could be worse. *sigh&

or the barn caught fire from other reasons that were utterly unrelated to the humane society lady. personally, i'd be hard pressed to trust a puppy miller's word.

I agree... there may not have even been a fire.

Very much agreed.

Also agreed. Arson isn't that easy to pull off if you're an amateur, there would've been an investigation and probably a trial.

I find it telling that *if* it indeed happened the way he claimed, she called *the day before* and warned him. He had plenty of time to get the dogs to a safer location...

He probably didn't know which barn she would hit, and even then... Moving barns full of puppies in 24 hours?

Not that complicated if you really care about them. How many barns full of puppies does this jerk have?

It doesn't say that the lady called and said she was burning down his barn, just that she was "putting him out of business." Burning down the barn was probably not what he expected.

Presumably if there was concrete evidence against this woman, she would be in prison so I wouldn't personally take what this guy said as gospel. That said, some people are just that crazy.

Not necessarily. I mean, arsons are pretty hard to prosecute, especially if she managed to do it without accelerants. Also, if it was fairly recent, it's possible they're still investigating. Also, it's possible she HAS been charged with some wrongdoing, or maybe she skipped town.

Sorry, not trying to create a new argument, I'm just an anti-cynic lately. No one really knows all of the details, but people seem to be jumping on the "blame the breeder" train.

It is also quite possible she didn't actually do it, but got someone else worked up enough to do it.

It could've also been an accident, and he's just assuming an extremist did it.

No one can really make a call here. We don't have access to all of the information.
