She said in a comment that he died on the scene from an auto accident. My guess is that they cremated him so quickly because no one in their right mind would want an open casket with a mangled corpse.

I think she's just being a raging bitch so she doesn't have to stop and feel sad/think about her own mortality.

A funeral is time to talk about the deceased and meet seldom-met relations. People come to funerals, they don’t to ‘just’ a memorial. They take time off to attend a funeral, and it is cathartic for the family. The body might be a mess, but family should be allowed to say goodbye en masse.

I'll just let all those women who haven't worked for 20+ years and have outdated or no education that if they just try hard enough, they aren't at a disadvantage reentering the workforce after their husbands left them for a younger model! Once he walks out the door, she miraculously doesn't need to be supported anymore! She can pay rent from her vast trustfund, which every woman has, right?
