LOL, I like the one comment that tarts out by saying "I think his inexperience could be a good thing..."

Actually, the phrase "tarts out" is excellent, and I might have to appropriate that for other uses. Best Unintentional Typo of the week.

cleojones makes a damn good point here:
I would think if you swam with the sharks long enough, you'd have more of a chance of acting like one.

Scrappy, inexperienced, idealists can make great presidents. We already know one, Lincoln.
And like others said, he was the editor for Harvard Law Review, he was a state legislator, and on and on. You don't have to have a decade of experience in Washington or as a governor to be a good president.
I'm going to be honest: when primary time comes around, I'm going to have a very hard time going with Obama, who I like, rather than Clinton.
Because Clinton is a woman, and so am I.
But I'd rather have Obama.

You know what, I don't necessarily disagree with the assertion that inexperience CAN be a positive factor. I'm only talking about those who will vote for him due to his skin color.

I get what you mean, I'm just saying I know how they feel, because of Clinton.

Which, of course, completely ignores the fact that tressiemc's point wasn't "Vote for Barack because he's black"; it was "Don't tell me I shouldn't vote for Barack because he's black. I'll vote for who I want for whatever reason I want."

But don't let a little thing like "context" keep you from taking another futile run at "The Militants".

(PS: Isn't this sort of grudgewankery more blackfolkwatch's forte?)

Huh. By that logic, I should vote for Hilary because I want more powerful women in politics. But hey, I'm voting for Obama because I want to have his babies (among everything else).

Yet, we are the most American of Americans. No one has paid more for their citizenship than us. But every four years we kneel before the next bloated white man and offer our souls in exchange for a promise we KNOW will never be honored.

Now here we have, after 400 years, a real chance to do what white people do ALL. THE. TIME. We get to vote for the guy who most looks like us! And we have a hot pisses chance in hell of it actually mattering!

And we don’t want to do it because we do not want to be “pigeonholed”? We don’t want to just go for the black guy because he is black. All of sudden negroes care about a damn policy?!

She's right.

Let me tell you something. There are white folks who actually voted for Bush because he seemed like a great guy to have over for a barbecue. White folks vote for an ex-Klansman because they like his hair. White folks vote straight Republican, regardless of the issues, because God told them too.
True too. I've seen it with my own two eyeballs.

I've heard of a lot of people who vote for more stupid reasons. I'd rather someone vote because they think a candidate will represent them (based on religion, sex, creed, race or anything else) than have people not vote at all.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. I'd rather people vote based on intelligent/logical reasons. That people vote for stupid reasons is the weakest link in a Democracy.

Voting for someone who will represent you and your interests is an intelligent, rational reason in my book.

True, but I believe that the color of your skin is not representative of you. That is unless you are racist [I mean that rhetorically].
