i hope this hasn't been posted yet because i was just pointed to this and i love fat wankery. no really, it's my favorite.

ohnotheydidnt comes to the conclusion that one's success in life is not measured by actual accomplishment in your industry but rather by whether or not you eat fried chicken with ranch dressingbecause lord forbid people of any size don't ( Read more... )

Ugh, I'm in that community but I almost never read it. Half the shit they post is boring (NO NAME SOAP OPERA ACTOR TO APPEAR AT STRIP MALL OPENING!), or they end up flaming each other over everything. The fat hating seems to be an almost everyday occurrence, along with bitching about how ugly a celebrity is or how bad they dress. The real humdingers are when someone posts about a celebrity death, and people reply with shit like "I never heard of her, why is this here?" It's a real soul-killer of a community.

So their gripes boil down to...

She's fat.
She's black.
She doesn't shave her legs.

Oh FFS. What decent person cares about such things?

What kills me is that I eat healthier (and probably less) than my detractors. I have a massively screwed up metabolism. I had a distal bypass and still didn't lose that much weight (well, comparatively; I lost half of what I needed to lose to be "just overweight"). I eat maybe 2 meals a day, because I'm just not hungry. I think its been 2 months since I bought ice cream?

Damn.. I'm such a pig. Good thing it doesn't bug me too much...

Ever get checked out for celiac disease? I know a girl who endured 15 years of being told to go on diets (she was continually dieting) by doctors before they ran a simple test that indicated that she was hugely fat because her body was unable to absorb nutrients because of an allergy to wheat gluten. Once they finally bothered to figure things out, she stopped eating wheat gluten and dropped 30 pounds in 3 months.

Doctors don't give a shit about actually helping fat people, it seems.

well, hypothetically the industry makes money off of keeping you fat and consequently sick.

honestly i think that insurance companies should reimburse you for things like gym/weight loss memberships and nutritionist or dietician services. i'm lucky that my college offers those things free to full time students, because gyms charge you an arm and a leg for it and all you get is a free duffle bag.

Some insurance companies do offer some discounts on gyms and so on, but a discount ain't going to get me paying for a membership. If they offered to pay for all or most of it, I think that would be good motivation.

But yeah-- don't lecture! give people the real help that they need! otherwise, stfu.
