I KNEW SIGNING UP FOR who_remix WAS A STUPID IDEA. WHY DIDN'T YOU ALL TALK ME OUT OF IT. NEVER MIND THAT I ASKED YOU TO TALK ME INTO IT, SHUT UP.

Anyway, I need help. Nonspecific help (though I do need that, but I can't talk about it because that would be missing the point of Remixing and all), but rather critical help nonetheless as it affects the story.

2. Nope. Fer instance, last year I remixed hhertzof's Friends and Enemies and I titled the fic that resulted Enemies and Friends (The "Ogron! Ogron! Ogron!" Remix.) Hell, the new title doesn't even have to be RELATED to the old title.

Will this work for your musical terms?

Ooh, that actually gives me an idea for what I can use as a title, since the title of the fic I want to remix can be easily and subtly changed to indicate the aspects that my remix changes. Thanks! And thanks as well for the link to the misical terms dictionary; I've already picked out a couple that sound promising.

1. Up to you. I've seen both. I find standalones more satisfying and I know they get more comments, but I know that when I remix I definitely have that foreknowledge in my head - how can you not? - and it definitely influences the standalone quality ( ... )

1. There's only a little bit I'd had to rewrite if I wanted the remix to stand on its own (specifically, dialogue that was in the original story that still needs to be there for the story to make sense), so I might as well make it stand on its own anyway ( ... )

And, having read some of your fic, I am sure that your remixer is not thinking that and that it is an unreasonable fear. she says, fearing the same thing.

And thank you for the reassurance - I highly, highly doubt that anyone is thinking any such thing about your fic, but it's hard not to have such anxieties when you know someone is reading your work so closely. *hug of support*

Hoo hoo! You got sucked into another challenge, did you? Happens to the best of us. I've never done a remix, so I'll just stand over here on the sidelines and eat my popcorn slowly as I wait to see what you come up with.

I keep trying not to do it! And then all these new tempting ficathons come along, and my willpower is for naught. :( And I'd wanted to do a remix anyway, but I'd never had enough fic to do it...
