Moonlight Finale

May 17, 2008 10:15

Well, Mick, Beth, Josef, Coraline, and the recurring characters whose names I never learned: I'm sorry to see you go.  You were cheesy, but fun, and showed promise of growing out of your cheesiness near the end.

The Moonlight finale (1.16 "Sonata") tickled me with continuity -- I caught firm references to four previous episodes, and vague ( Read more... )

Seems a lot nearer, doesn't it? Blink, and...

I've thought vaguely of digging up my original LK-response fkspoilr post (with which I no longer agree, I know; I was still an N&Ner at the time). I wouldn't have the original -- several email addresses, computers and applications ago -- but I might have a TXT file of those first days after LK on a floppy somewhere. It seemed worth noting, at the time.

You could not pay me enough to look back at that stuff.

(Remember, I'm the one who now watches FK vids through my eyelashes, ready to slam my eyes shut if anything from "Last Knight" shows up. Hey, I never said I was rational.)

On a much happier note, then: an FK anniversary is an anniversary of treasured friendships and valued acquaintanceships. Thanks for letting me hang around! :-)

That's...oddly poetic. *wry g*

And next weekend is MediaWest. IIRC, it was two weekends later in '96, when we did the videotaped reading of the parody LK script. That was... I'm not sure I had a word for what it was. But I still grin thinking about it.

I wonder if I would have been on quite such an emotional rollercoaster had it not also been near the opening of The Crucible, my maiden voyage as a director. I'll never forget the look on poor Gracie's (my Tituba) face when she came to rehearsal that Monday night, and I found out the poor woman had just discovered the show the previous week, with AtA! I could have warned her! Not that it would have helped, but wow...

Most finales air in May, of course, but ... yup. *matching wry g*

Moonlight's end causes me only slight regrets, but the fact of it ending reminded me powerfully of when LK aired.

I wonder what that could have looked like, to someone who had just met the characters. If you didn't already love them, and that was your introduction... Those are respectably crafted episodes, especially AtA. That they hurt so is a function mostly beyond their bounds.

It is, but Gracie seemed just stunned that it was the end. Mostly, I think, because it was "Hey, this is really good!" and "That's IT???" in the space of eight days. But she was also shocked that they would end it that way. And was like "You've been attached to these people for four years? No wonder you're in mourning!"
