Today's my first day subbing for the dance class. Coincidentally, today's also the first day of bellydance boot camp. I'll be at the dance studio from 6-7 for the latter, and then from 8:30-9:30ish for the former. Should be interesting ( Read more... )

I wonder if psychological realism is consistent with musical comedy as a genre. I mean, all of your observations about the characters are spot on (well ... maybe I would quibble a bit about Christmas Eve, to the extent that since she had such a hard time holding on to clients, she was supposed to be a BAD therapist and therefore we should take advice she gives with a grain of salt). But I found myself suspending disbelief because it was a musical, even if it was a musical about lost twentysomethings who were supposed to be recognizable.

I have to say, I found Trekkie Monster both funny and endearing, too.

That's a good point re: Christmas Eve. I guess I'd assume people were put off by her personality rather than her actual advice. Subtlety... intuition... these were not so much in her toolbox (as Rod could attest :].)

And another good point re: Trekkie Monster. I forgot to mention the Deus Ex Trekkie Monster! :o

"The internet is for porn" is a song for the ages. (Or at least for as long as the internet exists.)
