Mar 15, 2006 14:32

Pippi sauntered down to where she had her boat, dubbed The Bag of Gold, moored.

With her she had a spyglass, sextant, battery powered floodlight, and her picnic rig. ((Including a nifty old statue she'd found that would make a nice centerpiece!))

She loaded it all up onto the boat and waited for Walter and any other sacraficial victems friends ( Read more... )

BOOOOOOOOM!!!!!

The force of the blast slammed Nadia off her feet even as she was diving to the ground. She covered her head as . . . something, probably a mix of fish monster guts and water, splashed down over her.

Pip leapt up behind the boulders and continued to reload his glocks. "Alright, I'm listening."

Walter boosted Nadia up to Pippi to help her over the rocks and hustled up after her, settling with a view of the creatures rather than looking in at the others. "I'm all ears."

Pippi opened up her band and started rummaging through it.

"There's lots of stories among sea folk about creatures that live in the deep deep ocean. There was this Captain who was particularly fond of... Sealife. I forget his name."

The larger group with the larger group with the larger creature and the statue disappeared into the water.

There were five creatures remaining shuffling over the rocks. They are thankfully not very graceful on dry land.

Nadia reloaded her gun after waking up and getting to work and peered over the rocks, rather wishing she had another propane tank weeeee! explosions!. "Let me guess. He's the one who gave you the creepiest. Statue. Ever?"

Pippi wrestled the shotgun she'd purchased from Tex for "ship's security" free of the bag and started loading it.

"No, I can't say I've ever met that guy... But the man who sold it to Pappa and me said that it belonged to the Captain's... Children."

Down the beach, the creatures were gurgling at eachother then seperated. Two going left, two going right, and two continuing on a more direct route to were the air-breathers were.

Nadia finished reloading, and peered up over the edge of the boulders to fire on the two headed to the right.

"That thing belonged to kids?!"

"Not so much 'kids' as 'descendents'... By the description the guy selling the statue these are them."

Nadia's shots tags one of the creatures in the chest and staggers back. Its partner pulls it aside, behind a large boulder, hissing angrily at the shooter.

Nadia's eyes widened slightly, then she narrowed her eyes and hissed back at the fish thing. She hoped the hiss was some sort of curse.

"Okay, so the statue should actually belong to them? But they have it back, now, why are they still coming after us?"

"According to the stories?" asked Pippi grimly. "If we're very lucky, they'll kill us and eat us."

The, as yet unshot, creature to the right popped out from behind its boulder and began throwing large rocks and the hiding place of the one who hurt his friend.

"If we're just kinda lucky, they'll try to take us alive so they can sacrifice us to whatever strange gods they worship or possibly that statue..."

As rocks were a great deal easier to dodge than lasers, Nadia managed to not get hit. As soon as she thought she had a clear shot, she popped up and fired at the fish monster.

"And if we're not lucky at all?"

"... They are partly human."

Those were implications Walter had no desire to follow to a logical conclusion. Especially not for his two female friends.

"Then it's a damned good thing we aren't counting on luck," he muttered as he waited for one of the left-going grindylow-thingies to come into view.

Nadia frowned, confused, then slowly, almost comically, her eyes widened.

A rock struck her shoulder. "Ow!" She spun and fired at the fish monster again. "Cabron!"
