Mar 15, 2006 14:32

Pippi sauntered down to where she had her boat, dubbed The Bag of Gold, moored.

With her she had a spyglass, sextant, battery powered floodlight, and her picnic rig. ((Including a nifty old statue she'd found that would make a nice centerpiece!))

She loaded it all up onto the boat and waited for Walter and any other sacraficial victems friends ( Read more... )

Walter had handwavily recruited Nadia as a sacrifice guest on their little tour and showed up at long last with a bag of groceries from All and Sundries.

"Permission to come aboard?"

Nadia stepped up behind Walter, her guitar slung over her back and her practice amp in one hand. She tilted her head at Pippi's boat.

"You really are a pirate. Cool."

"Yup." She says with her foot on the side of the boat like Captain Morgan.

"Permission Granted!" she says in response to Walter's request.

"Good to see you're still practicing, Nadia," Pip said as he wandered in out of the blackness. He also had a guitar slung over his back, but it was his acoustic.

He might also be carrying other things on him. But that was just because he was paranoid.

"Permission to come aboard, Cap'n?"

Pippi rowed the boat around the "back" of the island, she pulled the ores into the boat and let it drift.

She pulled out the spyglass and started to scan the shore for a good spot for their picnic. Sitting next to her was the portable light just ready in case clouds covered the moon.

Walter started gathering the food into covered dishes to carry off to their picnic site. He rummaged around in Pippi's ditty bag for some hand towels to deal with the heated dishes.

"What's this?" he asked, holding up a strange statuette he found in the bag.

"Oh that?" She said, "That's just a cool statue Papa and I got on some South Sea island or other. I didn't realize I had it in my sea chest and I found it when I was looking for my spy glass. Thought it'd make a good centerpiece for dinner."

Pip lit a cigarette and stared at it. "That's a weird looking thing. Looks like something out of a nightmare."

"Okay, that settles it. I'm rowing for shore." she set the statue down and took the ore she didn't lose back up.

"Walter? Could you hand me that? If something seems to grab them as I'm rowing? Go to town on it."

"Chef services and oar security, Miss Longstocking," Walter said as he handed her the chewed oar. "Full service butlery at its best."

However, these things were definitely better done on land, in his opinion.

"We should get to land," Pip said. He pulled out another gun and held it out for Nadia. "These things definitely have the advantage in the water."

"Working on it." Pippi said pulling the oars through the water.

"If somebody could keep an eye on shore and guide me in? I'm kinda stearing blind here."

BOOOOOOOOM!!!!!

The force of the blast slammed Nadia off her feet even as she was diving to the ground. She covered her head as . . . something, probably a mix of fish monster guts and water, splashed down over her.

Walter hit the dirt, well, sand, next to the boat and was up and on his feet as soon as the last fishy splatter hit.

He went to help Nadia up and farther away from the water.

The boat rocked as the explosion caused waves in the water as well as a wave of fish person flesh.

There's a moment as a dozen or so voices screeched angrily into the night.

Pip shot up, both his guns out in front of him, scanning the water for monsters.

The two left creatures have adopted the tactic of throwing stones as they advance, despite being rather decadent and not entirely without sin.

On the right, Nadia may have tagged the "intact" creature in the arm. He gurgles out something to the center group and disappears back behind the boulder.

The center group is having some trouble navigating over the rocks and keeping cover from gunfire.

Pippi hunkers down with the shotgun. There isn't a lot of range, but she can still blast them before they can grab a hold of her if they get that close.

"The good news." she says to nobody in particular. "Is that they are not grindylows."

Not that she was interested in going hand to hand with them, just in case they were related.

"There's usually a bad news that follows that sort of good news..."

Walter knocked a couple of rocks out of the air and finally found an exposed appendage on one of the left ones to grab with the wires.

Since the fish guy on the right has ducked back under cover, Nadia fires at the advancing center group, then ducks down herself to reload.

"The bad news is, they haven't left us alone yet?"
