Mar 15, 2006 14:32

Pippi sauntered down to where she had her boat, dubbed The Bag of Gold, moored.

With her she had a spyglass, sextant, battery powered floodlight, and her picnic rig. ((Including a nifty old statue she'd found that would make a nice centerpiece!))

She loaded it all up onto the boat and waited for Walter and any other sacraficial victems friends ( Read more... )

Pippi rowed the boat around the "back" of the island, she pulled the ores into the boat and let it drift.

She pulled out the spyglass and started to scan the shore for a good spot for their picnic. Sitting next to her was the portable light just ready in case clouds covered the moon.

Walter started gathering the food into covered dishes to carry off to their picnic site. He rummaged around in Pippi's ditty bag for some hand towels to deal with the heated dishes.

"What's this?" he asked, holding up a strange statuette he found in the bag.

"Oh that?" She said, "That's just a cool statue Papa and I got on some South Sea island or other. I didn't realize I had it in my sea chest and I found it when I was looking for my spy glass. Thought it'd make a good centerpiece for dinner."

Pip lit a cigarette and stared at it. "That's a weird looking thing. Looks like something out of a nightmare."

Nadia flinched back slightly from the statue. "It's creepy. Do we have to have it out while we eat?"

"He kinda grows on ya." said Pippi still scanning the shore. "He's kinda charming I think. Was thinking of making him the ship's mascot."

Walter looked down at the sculpture in his hand. He wouldn't quite say nightmarish, but he wasn't likely to go with charming either.

Shrugging, he stuffed it back in the bag that held the napkins and place settings. "Ready when you are, Captain."

Pippi shook her head. "It's to rocky here." she said as she put the ores back into the water.

Before she got them in position to get moving again there was a *sploosh* off the port bow of the boat.

One might say that an unsettling miasma arose from the water around the boat... But Pippi wasn't that pretentious... So she'd probably just say that there was a damp mist that smelled kinda funny.

Pip looked up, his hand instinctively reaching for a shoulder holster. "What was that?"

Nadia grabbed her leatherman from her pocket and unfolded the blow torch quietly. She wrinkled her nose. Over all, she greatly prefered the maple syrup fog from the fog machine. "Okay, maybe it is just the statue, but does anyone else have a bad feeling right now?"

"I don't have a good feeling," Walter agreed.

He peered through the miasma hah! looking for the source of the sound. "Use the light?"

"I gonna keep rowing..." Pippi said starting to row. "The light's right there."

The boat starting moving again, they were a far distance from the shore to avoid getting caught up on anything, but still close enough to see on this clear (except for the sudden mist) night.

Pip pulled out a Glock and thumbed off the safety. "J'ai un mauvais sentiment à ce sujet."

Something hit the front of the boat and made a scraping noise as it was dragged under the boat beneath the passengers' feet and *splooshed* as it freed itself at the back of the boat.

Nadia jumped slightly and clenched her fist around her blow torch. She resettled her guitar over her shoulders and pulled out her mallet.

"It might just be fish," she said, then shook her head. "Madre del dios, what am I saying? This is Fandom. It's not just fish."

"Probably not a fish." Dammit. He turned to follow the noise again, straining to hear anything over the lapping waves.
