Ah, bliss.  A nice, long e-mail from my South African apprentice emeritus.  He begins slowly to emerge from the doghouse.  :-)

Of course, I have now been so busy this week that I haven't yet had a chance to answer.  I'm sure he thinks I've been possessed by aliens, since my turnaround time has never previously been this slow.  Ah,

Well, I'm getting all excited about the Spain/Portugal thing, but the truth is that Dad & B might or might not be able to afford it in the end. Dad's income can fluctuate, and I know that with the lousy economy here, he hasn't been doing as well as usual. B's just starting off in a completely new career path, too. So their financial situation's a lot tighter than mine. We'll see if it really comes true.

Besides...it's not as if I won't EVER come back. :-)
