And you can't take drugs... does arnica gel help on that? I know it works wonders on muscle pain, but cartilage pain? And what do they do for you if it is a torn meniscus?

It will all depend on the severity of the tear. If it is reparable then they'll fix it and I'll go through months of rehab and PT. If it's not fixable they'll cut out that part of the cartilage and I'll be able to walk in a couple of weeks; however, Ill have arthritis in probably 10 years w/out the cartilage in there to cushion the bones. We'll see, I hope it turns out well, 'cause I don't have time for all this!

Okay, I looked it up lilia_blackbear November 7 2007, 12:33:15 UTC
I found several sites that recommend Arnica gel for torn cartilage pain. Of course, they are all pharmeucitical companies and homeopathic sites -- no medical or government sites stating the effectiveness. Most agree it should not be ingested since it is poisonous. But much praise by users of the gel for internal injuries due to muscle rips, cartilage tears, sprains, etc.

Yeah, I've always enjoyed laying in a dark tube and hearing all those noises! But, since this is the 3rd time I've had an MRI I'm not too worried about that. Aleve would work, except that you can't take it while nursing (it may have taken them awhile to figure that out) so I'm pretty much out of luck.
