--frozen goods worth more than a lousy gunshot wound. [That sound would be a high-pitched plaintive whine.] I don't want to be a prostitute. I'm allergic to STDs.
[Admittedly, this isn't the first time Badou's woken up half-naked on some unknown alleyway. In fact, the alley's much cleaner than he remembers it, and this time he's 100% sure he still

[Now that it isn't just her in the bare apartment, Nill obviously needs more groceries, to cook more food with, to guilt Haine into eating something. She knew he was upset (and honestly she couldn't say she'd ever seen him eat something), but eating even a little bit would make him feel better, wouldn't it?]
[She managed to find a small toy wagon in the item shop, and is using that to cart home the groceries as well as a cushion (she hasn't had the heart to bother Haine about getting a couch or a chair). The cushion has fallen off for the fourth time, and Nill notices the shock of red hair as she's putting it back on. Red hair had a tendency to stand out in cold weather.]
[As quickly as she can without tipping the wagon over, she walks towards Badou, the wagon wheels announcing her approach.]

[As for the experiments... ]
Yeah.
[Haine frowns, though it's hard not to agree. Two out of the three people standing in the room were already genetic experiments before they'd arrived here. And living that once was enough for anyone.]
[Badou doesn't ask him anything else though, so he figures he's got things more or less answered. He's not freaking out, which is saying a lot for Badou. Haine takes the plate offered, but spots the small cut on her thumb before glancing back up to her face.]
It looks good.
[He isn't her mother or Bishop, so he doesn't bring it up. She knows how to wash it out and how to wrap it if nothing else. All the things he's fairly clumsy with.]
We only have two plates. Not like we were expecting visitors.
[He lifts his sandwich off the plate and holds it out to Nill ( ... )

[Once she comes around the corner though, she's smiling again. And she even takes Haine's plate without trying to argue the point--he seems more likely to eat without one anyway. She goes back to the kitchen to make herself a half sandwich... and let them keep talking.]

[He's figured out all of jack shit, except that he's once again screwed six ways from Sunday. All of them are. And they're still no closer to finding what they're looking for.]
So, you know where I can find some smokes around here?

Why the hell would I know that?
[He grumbles around a bite of his sandwich. Not that he hasn't visited a few places in the town. Smokes have never been at the top of his list, but he might've seen them around. Not that he cares or anything. Badou would be just as useless with or without one of his nicotine fits seeing as he doesn't even have a decent gun to wave around.]
I'm sure one of the stores around here carries 'em. You can't be the only addict around here.

[She would just impose upon him the importance of not smoking inside their house. The smell stuck to everything.]
[Nill comes back with her own sandwich (when she was out she got a cookie-cutter, so it's in the shape of a heart), and sits down next to Haine, smiling as though it's normal to eat on the floor.]

[Chewing, what is that? Badou scarfs down most of his sandwich and just picks up the bits that have fallen onto his plate to eat them separately. There's no lack of enthusiasm here. He's hungry, and he's had worse.
Nill's little heart sandwich gets a slight smile. At least someone's making the most of it.]
...I'm gonna go find some smokes. My mouth is getting lonely.
