That's an opera, and a pretty good one. Do you want a plot summary?

If you have the time, it would be appreciated.

It's...a book that was adapted into a lot of visual forms, with the most popular adaption being a musical.

And there's a character in it called the Phantom?

covert_chord April 25 2008, 00:08:02 UTC
Yes, he's the main character. He's...a man who was deformed, and because of that, shunned from society. He lived in the opera house's undergrounds, and eventually fell in love with a young soprano girl. However, her heart belonged to someone else, and well..

It's a wonderfully written opera, about a woman caught between two loves; one who seduced her with his voice, and another who was her childhood sweetheart.

... I see. A romance story about a love triangle.

That is interesting.

I'm sure you'd be able to find the book somewhere, but seeing it performed on stage is quite the experience.

I've no doubt of that, though I can't say I've seen much in the way of stage entertainment.

It looks like Gemma's given you the best description.

I'm curious as to why you're interested. If you don't mind me being curious, that is.

I'm... endeavouring to convince someone to give me a blood sample under the pretense of being the Phantom.

"Phantom of the Opera". Original title: "Le Fantôme de l'Opéra". Author: Gaston Leroux. Completed in the year 1910.

Is more specific information required?

... Are you new?

Ah, yes. The heroine. Her name was Christine, correct?

her_bulwark April 25 2008, 13:20:06 UTC
No. I was created three years ago. I do not believe this length of time qualifies me as still "new".

Christine Daaé, yes.
