The Czech equivalent would be Krtek. Still an icon today, and even sold in stuffed form at the airport.

On the other hand, I don't think I've ever seen this one, which surprises me a bit, since some of the Czech stuff did make it up to Motherland back then. I looked it up on Russian Wikipedia, and it seems that at least some of the episodes were broadcast on "Spokoynoy Nochi, Malyshy" kids' show in the Soviet and post-Soviet era, so either I never caught those particular episodes when I was growing up or they didn't stick in my mind.
Either way - interesting. I'll have to look into it. I wouldn't be surprised if there are Russian-dubbed episodes of it online somewhere/
