Moscow urban explorers have sex in subway, take pictures, problems ensue (NSWF)

I found out about this bit of news over at Gazeta.ru, and soon, I wound up falling down the rabbit hole of Russian-language sources.

From what I've been able to gather, here's what happened. Back on Tuesday, December 9, a Digger (kind of like an Urban explorer except they tend to focus on exploring the underground of major Russian cities) whom media outlets have been calling Andrei R and his girlfriend went down to a used service tunnel off of the Zamoskvoretskaya Line of the Moscow subway. Originally, it was supposed to be more of a group thing, but the two are the only ones wound up going. So far, so perfectly ordinary if you're a Digger.

But then, they had sex in the tunnel. And photographed the results. And Andrei R uploaded the pics VKontankte (the Russian Facebook clone). As best as I can gather, sharing the pics was always part of the plan (remember - this was originally supposed to be more of a group thing).

Side note - some sources indicate that they were down in the tunnel for two hours, and nobody in the Moscow subway was the wiser until the photos went up online

Naturally, Moscow police were not happy about it. They are currently investigating the incident. Which is... I'm not entirely sure where Russian obscenity laws stand on sex in subway tunnels, but trespassing is definitely a crime.

According to what seems like Andrei R's Twitter feed, the police stopped by his house, but he says he wasn't there at the time. So we'll see how this pens out. No word on what happened to his girlfriend.

Since this morning (early evening Moscow time), he took down the photos, but not before some media websites saved them and reposted them. And only that first website bothered to censor Andrei P's face.

One of the photos is almost artistic, not much different from the usual DeviantArt "nudity in dark and secret places" fare. If it was taken with a crappy camera.

But the other is quite a bit... pornier.

Oh, and there's one photo he didn't take down a photo he took after... the deed. The caption rhymes in Russian, but I'm not nearly talented enough to convey that. So I'll settle for straight translation.

I'm covered in grease,
I'm covered in some shit
It's fun to bang
In the underground world

On his Twitter, he mentions that they were not the first Diggers who screwed in the subway. Or even the first one to film the whole thing. He tweeted examples. And while the first two look more like a DeviantArt photoshoots...

The other two... Yep. Sure looks like screwing.

Because I have no context for those images, I have no idea if anyone involved faced the wraith of the law.

As for Andrei R and his girlfriend... They had to have known there would be consequences. Every Digger is suposed to know that there's always a risk of getting caught for trespassing. At least that's the impression I got from Digger messageboards and communities I used to lurk at when I was a teenager. And posting nudity and sex, in a public medium - they had to have known chances were pretty good that it would get out.

Still, I don't think they deserve to be punished too harshly. Sure, they trespassed, but they didn't try to do it in an active subway tunnel, and it's not like anyone saw them.

But this is Russian law. Who knows how it will pan out.
