When did you leave NYC? Because I thought you were already back home, when I went there last Wednesday, but now I'm wondering if I should have contacted you ahead of time... and shown you the city. I also like acting as a guide. My parents live on the Brooklyn mid-section of Q train, and a relative was for a short time in an Astoria hospital, so I've been there before. (Not to mention that the airport is nearby as well.) A great neighborhood.
BTW, I also took the train there, and this has been the worse ride ever for me. I've taken Lake Shore Ltd. from Chicago and from Toledo many times before, but this was the first time it was 4 hours late coming out of Chicago. (The train going from Chicago to DC through Toledo that passes before midnight was also about an hour late.) Needless to say, the ride back was a lot smoother and almost on time (on time out of NYC, but 30 min. late coming into Toledo).

Sorry - I guess the timeline wasn't all that clear. I came back to Chicago on March 24. The problem is that putting together the trip log posts takes time, especially since I do have a day job. Some of the entries I wrote on the train, but most of them had to be ridden from scratch. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish and post the last two entries by this Friday.
As you may recall, when I wrote about my last visit to New York City, I got hopelessly behind and wound up quitting midway through. I'm determined not to let it happen again.

Oh, thinking of you I picked up a couple of mailings for train riding fans at the Toledo station. (One of them is from the fall of 2013.) Переслать их связному? :0)
