The Rooftop of Mrs. Westenra's

Edward is distracted by the piano in the back room; this is well, for following the smell of dead flesh is probably not the best plan for the young vampire.

The older one however, follows the other man out to the roof access door and through it, clearing his throat to announce his presence.

"Hello."

Harry laughs.

"Not exactly by accident. My sister was looking for a ... change of scenery. The Nightside is pretty much as big a change as you can look to get. We took the train from New York."

Don't ask how that works.

"So you can get to and from the Nightside via other cities than London herself."

I don't know whether or not to be relieved by that.

"You're here with your sister?"

He nods.

"Most definitely. And yes, I'm here with my sister. You might've seen her -- bright purple hair. Lots of piercings and tattoos."

In other words, his polar opposite.

The questioning look from Carlisle seems to have reached Harry's same conclusion.

"So I...would never have noticed you were both related, more than likely."

Unless they smell similar?

"What is her talent?"

"The opposite of mine. Rapid organic decomposition."

In other words: ew.

Carlisle appears to agree.

Harry wrinkles his nose.

"It's ... kind of bothersome. Her side of the room is always filthy." Euugh.

"I suppose you were fated to pair," Carlisle thinks aloud. "Growth and decomposition. How very Manichean. Do you get along well? Other than her talent."

He shrugs.

"Well, we get along well enough when she's not being difficult." And trying to commit crimes.

"Sounds like Edward and myself," Carlisle smiles at him, thinking of the man left at the piano downstairs. "But I think most people get on well enough if both are on their best behavior."

"I can only assume you two aren't related." Harry isn't implying anything, but he called Edward by his name and not by his brotherly title, so he thinks it's a pretty good guess.

"'Related' is...a very subjective term. We aren't siblings. Is your sister waiting for you somewhere, or do you often disappear to your plants?" Carlisle shifts, amiable smile on his pale face.

"I'm usually the one waiting up for her," he admits with a shrug and a shake of his head.

"She's probably at Strangefellows trying to make connections."

"Connections meaning..."

Carlisle doesn't let Harry finish explaining before Carlisle chuckles to himself. "You make her sound as though she is attempting some kind of shady business deal."

Harry arches his brow at Carlisle.

"Well ... yeah, that's what she's doing." Charity doesn't have her brother's friendly constitution.
