Book rec!

I have emerged from the depths of pre-exam jitters to recommend something amazing which I really hope you guys get the chance to read.

It’s the length and quality of a book, so I am reccing it as a book, despite the fact that it’s as yet unpublished. I’m talking about apiphile’s original novel, Pass the Parcel.

The author says that it’s a story "about London, but not as we know it", though I kind of think she’s wrong… It’s a story about people. About how they think and what they do when the world as they know it goes slightly sideways and about how everything is connected and how someone you glance at on the train can be the most important person in the world to someone else out there. (Think of that movie Crash, only with daemons and dragonmen and drug-addled clubbers. Think first season Heroes.)

It is set in London, but a London that contains not only humans but an absolutely incredible range of other species living alongside them with their own unique cultures and quirks. And with the world being what it is, you know that’s going to lead to conflict.

"But Megan!" I hear you protest, "I don’t have time to read a whole book right now! And I don’t like reading long things online!"

Here’s my challenge: Read the first chapter right the way through and then tell me that you aren’t going to keep reading. I dare you.

Anyway. I really hope at least a couple of people give this one a try, because I am in desperate need of people to shriek over the romantic/scary/laugh-out-loud bits with. *g* When this one gets published, you better believe I'll be in line for a proper paper copy.
