So much homework. *weeps*Ways To Inadvertently Doom Yourself At NaNo, Method #374: Get the Benny Hill theme music stuck in your head while attempting to write a dramatic chase scene. It's like writerly kryptonite, really ( Read more... )

Random history lesson! During WWII people did in fact live in the London Underground and a load of other tunnels. :D I always found that a little creepy myself, although not as creepy when the train decides to get stuck at an abandoned station (Y HALO THAR, PICCADILLY LINE TRAINS, YORK STREET IS NOT USED PLEASE STOP STOPPING THERE). If the doors ever open while we're stuck at one I may die of fear. ;)

Advertisements still plastered the walls, faded and torn, futilely announcing the benefits of products that hadn’t been available for years.

As scene-setting touches go I believe this one is a doozy. Go you. :D

Oh man, how did I not know about that? (Must refrain from madly Googling until I'm done this damn assignment...) I know we've got piddly little train lines over here compared to the ones in London, so I'd love to see those someday.

Hey, thank you very much! *G*

Dude, you *have* read Neverwhere, right?

Also ... I kind of want to see the Moscow Metro, having seen how much *better* the Paris Metro is than the London Underground (although significantly more scary, there's an interchange at Gare du Nord which is like a whole sunken city, and then at ... fuckit, cannot remember the name of the station, La Haussez or something ... anyway, the RER there - the platform is like a plaza underground and the lighting is so dim I kept expecting to be attacked by zombies, no kidding.

the LU is so piddly and tiny by comparison. Also continually breaking down.

... I'm ... kind of an underground trains nerd. That is ... possibly the most embarrassing thing I've ever had to admit to in mixed company, too.

Years back and I can't remember it very clearly beyond 'Mind the Gap' and things popping out of the darkness, though I'm quite certain it's what started the fascination in the first place. *g* Clearly due for a re-read!

Ahh, those sound amazing! Considering my ability to get lost in a city that only has two trains, I'd probably never be heard from again if I wandered into one of those.

Hey, I vote that it's a perfectly normal thing over which to geek out! They're all... surreal and rumbly and the kind of places that your brain instinctively tells you that you should not be in. Oh look, the fear = fascination phenomenon again...

Ditto on apiphile's enjoyment of the line about the advertisements.

Liked this one too: “It helps that only one of us is allowed to freak out at a time, huh?” Reni decided cheerfully.

Hee.

Keep that Nano going! You can do eet!

I hear that. *eyes apartment then looks away* Shh, maybe if we don't say anything, the apartment won't notice and won't try to take over the whole building... ;)

And now I'm done the evol homework and don't usually attempt writing until the evening, so technically I could be tidying up...

And yet I'm sitting here head-banging to Simon & Garfunkel. Heh.

PS - Do you actually get the channel that Merlin airs on or are you DLing it, out of curiosity?
