Sims 2 Battle Royale

I've been giving this idea some more thought, and if you can stomach the idea of a story where they (mostly) all die, it makes for some very interesting exploration of the teen characters in Sims 2. There are so many factors that could be considered. And, if you know me at all, you know I have no problem with killing characters ( even ones I really Read more... )

I am a fan of Battle Royale in all of it's forms and I think this would be an awesome project! I am actually really excited about this and think it's great that you've decided you want to do this. Are you going to base it mainly off the movie, manga, or book? Are you going to come up with your own deaths or base it off the deaths already written? Oh there are just so many ideas that popped into my head after reading this! I agree after thinking about it Melody and the bin sims are hard to place in the battle royale scenario but I could see the Newson kids sticking together and not wanting to play at all and offing themselves together. Melody I think would be the loner in the class because there aren't any other teens from her neighborhood that she can relate to. I don't know those are just some ideas that popped into my head. But I think this is great and can't wait to see what you do with it.

I'll take some inspiration from all three forms of the story, but I'm not planning to recreate any of it exactly. I might recycle some of the deaths (or at least take a cue from them as a starting point), if they fit, and some of the characters do match with certain types found in Battle Royale. I think a lot of the team dynamic and eventual betrayals found in the book would happen in any given group, so it makes sense to see them happen in this version too.

I know I shouldn't be distracting myself with yet another side project, but this one really infected my brain! I guess reading the novel, watching the movie, and re-reading the manga back to back will do that to you. :P

Now I just need a good location for it to take place. An island would make sense, but I could always go with a known location that has been evacuated for this purpose. I'm thinking an island would probably work best, though. Something small would keep the project more manageable.

This sounds like a great idea - I love letting the Maxis teens getting to know each other (so much angst and drama, so little time :P) but the added 'killing game' makes it even more explosive, of course :) I'd never be able to pull it off myself (can't even seem to kill off the sims I don't like, annoyingly enough), but I'd love to see where you'd take it :)

I agree. The thought of imminent and inevitable death would really push things to move along quickly with the character interactions.

My main concern is with actually showing the deaths in the game. I'm not aiming for tonnes of blood and gore, but I guess I will need to consider some cc guns and posing hacks that will make it seem somewhat believable.

I would really get a kick out of reading this though it has been a long time since I've even seen the Battle Royal mangas.

I don't know anything about Battle Royale, but I'll read it if you do it, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it! I don't have a problem with characters being killed, either.

All I can really remember about Melody Tinker is that she is buggy in college -- she goes to class and never comes back, or something. Though that might have been fixed in a patch or by MATY.
