An anime making me nostalgic? Genshiken did that.

"It's a shame that more wasn't done with that character, though."

Well, the anime is staying pretty close to the manga, even if it's not quite in the same order, so we've pretty much seen all we're going to see of him. IMO that just leaves room for more interesting (and less ire-inspiring) characters to be in the spotlight XD There *is* a second season that is scheduled to come out this spring (and they did at least hint at Ogiue showing up during the credits of the last ep).

Fair enough. I just figured that they could have done more with him since all he really does during the series is make random appearances, open his pompous mouth, and then walk off while everyone else glowers at him.

Now that I've seen the series, the manga does interest me, so maybe I'll start reading it. The stories the TV series told were all really funny, so I'd love to see what else the characters get up to. It's also nice to hear that the series will be getting a second season.

I highly recommend you read the manga, it's great. Up to vol 4 is out now, and about the 2nd half of that vol contains stuff you haven't seen yet in the manga. I warn though, there are some nuances in the translation that are inaccurate, but I don't know if it'll matter too much to you. One glaring mistake which doesn't really matter, but irritates the geek in me is when Sasahara goes over to Kousaka's and they play games. In the Japanese, they play "Esu-Cap 2", which is short for SNK vs Capcom 2. In the translated manga, they translate it as "Escape 2". I don't know why they translated it that way. I suspect the translater didn't know the reference.

I'll keep that in mind. Translation issues like that can bug me, but as long as they aren't too frequent, it shouldn't make that much of a difference.
