We're nearing the end of summer and for those of you who visit farmers' markets or have gardens, here's a little salsa recipe for you.

This recipe is brought to you by The Starving Students Vegetarian Cookbook - with modifications, of course.

This is a big favorite for us because we can use up extra cooked rice or even make rice especially for this. We sometimes double the recipe so we can have some extra lounging about the fridge.

Peggy is this woman who lives in some house and who, at least in 2001 she was doing it, bakes about 4,000 cookies as Christmas gifts. An overachiever if there ever was one. But her recipes are golden.

 This makes no sense. I'm trying to avoid sugar, but I provide you with a cookie recipe. Where's the Spockian logic in that? Anyway, these cookies have a very British history, so perhaps that's why I like to stir up a batch now and then. And once again, they're easy to make.

 I'm not precisely sure what all our Fry guy did to lose that fabulous amount of weight, but I do know he gave up bread, potatoes and sweets and then walked his lovely arse off. I tried it for a week and you'll find the results behind the cut.
