What kind of computer do you have?

I always wonder about this because some people are so computer literate they can create their own look for their livejournal page. I just use a standard LJ design, nothing wrong with it, but I do wish I could make it more me. The only thing I can really do is create more avatars, but those are just pictures I got from somewhere else. I keep ( Read more... )

I have an H.P. laptop. I have dabbled with macs and I love how visually pleasing they are. I'm thinking that in ten years or so I might have a mac to call my own.

I really haven't looked at livejournal formatting, I should try putzing with it to see what I can manage.

When you get done putzing, let me know what you discover.

I have Dells. I use Linux-nothing Windows related. And I'm hopeless with LJs. I posted my LOTR stories at Yahoo groups and wish the Jeeves/Wooster fans had an active group. It takes me 30 minutes, sometimes, to post even one part of my story at LJs. Best wishes!

It takes me a while to get things looking like I want them to look on LJ, but I just put that down to inexperience. I'm glad to see veterans have the same trouble.

I have um... I have a PC, not a mac. Although it's awesome, it's kind of a franken-puter, so it's not like I can say, 'it's a Dell' or 'it's a Gateway'. My new awesomeness is an upgrade from the old not-so-awesomeness. I'm not 'puter literate enough to say much more than that. Laptops sound alluring in that they're portable, but every time I've tried to use one, I've ended up SO uncomfy, because of their teeny-weeny keyboards. I type pretty fast and it's too easy to press like two or three keys at once with those teensy keys. Okay, 'nuff bitchin', I'll go get more coffee when I'm done here. ;p ( ... )

I would also like to be one of those people who can just rattle off what to do and then do it. I suppose if I were more interested in programming it would be easier. But stuff like that just puts me to sleep. I guess it's either like the layout you pick or learn how to change it. I'm to lazy to try to change much, I guess.

I'd also like to have a laptop, but I'm with you on those teeny keyboards.

Macbook Pro, baby!

I've never had a Mac before - I've always had PCs - so this has been a real treat for me. I'm not the most techy person out there (so not, lol), but I've found my Mac easy to learn and work with. No freezing up for no reason, no deleting shit by itself, no crazy arse issues. I mean, so far, I do that with computers. They hate me.

I have one of the new imacs as well, yet I chose to leave my journal completely white, just putting colour on it through the links and maybe the user-pic, to keep it sketchpad like, perhaps, I draw and paint and plan on posting stuff on my journal (someone please force me to, I'm useless in that regard), I have also acquired a great distaste for those overly complicated designs, mainly because people seem to worry a lot more about the design than what they post, I believe that if you wish to state something, do it through your posts, they should convey "you" perfectly well.

Does your new imac have an art program? My old one did and it was quite fun to work with. I suppose I could have asked when I ordered my new one, but unfortunately, I didn't. I'm thinking of getting something - if you could recommend anything I'd appreciate it.

It depends on what do you want to do, for example, for drawing I utilise autodesk sketchbook pro, it works like a physical sketchpad, it's brilliant, I use it along my cintiq- However, if you are thinking of one of those programs for design there are the standards, corel painter, photoshop, pixelmator (which is a sort of photoshop-made-for-mac thing), illustrator. It depends a lot on what you have in mind, is this for making graphics to customise your journal, or for drawing and painting?

Drawing and painting only. The other stuff would be great but I don't think I'd use it much.
