are you implying that galadriel fought in battles until she settled in Lorien? I don't picture her as being "a warrior", I think her experience at Alqualondë put her off that for life. But I also think that while heading East out of Beleriand in the First Age, and in the war against Sauron in the Second, she'd have taken up arms when necessary. Once she received one of the Three Rings, however, she had to "fight with other weapons", as it were, and reserve her strength for that

I picture First Age elves chatting in Quenya exactly how modern people would speak in English, and it's only pretentious Dúnedain or hobbit translators 7000 years later who think it should all be re-rendered to make them sound like they're reciting from the Bible.
I really enjoyed that. The juxtaposition of Lothlorien and Alqualonde works very well, and I like her two handmaidens with their distinct personalities. (I have a minor quibble - Lagoreth is much more likely to be silvan, as per Tolkien, than Sylvan which always makes me think of small animals who live in dolls houses....)
The OED gives 'sylvan' as the primary spelling and 'silvan' as a variant, not vice-versa. Lagoreth would probably use the -y- spelling to annoy Hestil, in any case. :)
