it ain't crackin' no more

I've been cracking my neck for the best part of nine years... It all started after my appendectomy when, a week after surgery, I woke up with my neck completely paralysed (let me tell you how scary that was - very). Turns out that because hospitals are understaffed, they now only use one person to transfer patients from operating table to bed. ( Read more... )

I usually only crack my fingers, although I do every joint in every finger and thumb when I do crack them. It's satisfying when I get every one for twenty eight satisfying snaps.

Sometimes I do my toes, too, but I can't get every joint there.

But the neck has always just made me uncomfortable when I see someone else doing it. It's your neck!!!!

Anyway, I hope you can resist the crack. :P

Oh, I forgot the fingers. I can only do the thumb, index, ring and little fingers, although the thumb is only occasionally. I suppose my middle finger is saying fuck you to cracking ;P

I know, I know! My brother-in-law cracks his neck sometimes (though he uses his hands to twist his head, which I find scary because what if you push too hard?) and I don't particularly like it, but it doesn't bother me like it does my sister.

I had to work HARD to resist this morning, too. Habits, they're hard to break :(

While Chiropractors do this too us the continually cracking or movement in an area does wear the joints and cartilage. that is what my neck/shoulder pain is all about.

That's why I'm trying to stop. It's getting easier to resist cracking but I did wake up with some holy moly tension this morning :(

My chiropractor told me to stretch in the morning. If my body cracks doing that then it was simply necessary. I feels good to stretch in the morning.

There is this Shaklee vitamin that is for joints and cartilage to help lessen pain and rebuild. I want it but it is $44 a month. Yikes.

Holy crap.

But yeah, I kind of stretch when I feel it's too much, but... it doesn't relieve like cracking does! Argh! :(
