Fanmix: (Haven't You Noticed Me) Drifting (Glee - Dave Karofsky (/+Kurt Hummel))

Nov 16, 2012 04:35

My first ever entry for waywardmixes. The theme of the challenge was Angst. ETA: Fanmix won third place, thanks everyone!! ♥ I started to make two mixes, one of Dave Karofsky from Glee and a really angsty mix of Colin Mochrie/Ryan Stiles from Whose Line Is It Anyway?/Improv-A-Ganza. Dave won (and I'm actually quite proud of this mix). But the other mix will ( Read more... )

Wao! I am super excited for this! :D I wish there were more Dave-centric fanmixes [and the side of Kurt doesn't hurt either]. Thank you; I'm snagging!

Also, *high five* for the Brad Falchuk jab. I like your ending better.

I agree, there are not enough Dave centric mixes. He's such a complex character. And you can't make a Karofsky mix without some Kurtofsky thrown in :) hope you liked it.

I actually finally gave up on Glee, I wanted to stop after the comment about Dave's happy end but I made it to the Klaine break-up.

I stopped watching Glee after the first season but this is really beautiful. Well done.

I really love the Civil Wars song at the end. It's really fitting to the story you told aboove.

Thx babe! I don't think you missed that much after you stopped Glee, except Dave of course. Bbut the way they treated the storyline was a joke, so maybe it's better you never got to see it.

I really like to put the Civil Wars on fanmixes xD And usually IAMX, surprisingly he's missing from this mix lol

I wanted so bad to put Falling by The Civil Wars in my mix for this round (mostly because they seem to be breaking up and it makes me so sad) but I couldn't make it fit. I just really love them....

The last Glee episode I genuinely enjoyed was the one directed by Joss Whedon. And it broke my fucking heart. So I stopped soon after that, lol.

lol and I settled for part of the lyrics of Falling for that reason :D I could have put it on the RyCol mix I wanted to make at first. Poison & Wine too.

Was that the Neil Patrick Harris one? That one was good. It had the dancing flashmob. I genuinely only watched for Karofsky after 2x6 aired, and then just kept watching even when he wasn't there just to hope seeing him mentioned or something since he was the actual interesting character and had an actor who can act his ass off when he wants (watch the scene when he's about to hang himself in the closet).

Where do I even start? This mix is amazing. I loved Karofsky's storyline (although I was never the biggest fan of how they tried to achieve Karofsky/Kurt and therefore didn't ship it in the show) and this just reminded my why I love him a million times over. You have him spot on and it's wonderful to listen to and pulls on my heartstrings. It actually got me behind the pairing. The last song solidified it for me. All in all this was fantastic on a bunch of levels and I really loved it ♥

Very true. I personally thought the writing was never strong enough to imply Kurt/Karofsky. I shipped him with Azimio for a bit actually (well, vaguely one sided but yeah). They never pushed hard enough to imply it for me. I always got the feeling that Kurt was a convenient outlet for the feelings Dave was having and so that's naturally where they went. I liked the friendship they were beginning to make in S2 and had it continued at that pace I'd have probably got behind it, but then they sped it up and sort of wrote him off the show in said five minute plot.

I haven't actually watched the show since 'On My Way' (Quinn being paralyzed followed by OMG BLAINE'S SIBLING PROBLEMS was not something I wanted to force myself to sit through). I feel like the writers realize how big of a following Darren has so they sort of want to milk his appearances for as much as they're worth (?)

I mean, I shipped Kurtofsky but by the end I just bored by Kurt and his Klaine storyline. Dave actually made him tolerable for a while, so 5 minutes of Kurtofsky moments in like 3 episodes - especially after Dave slowly changed - were a bit of a highlight for me. And I know people were all 'you can't blame Kurt for not answering his phone' (before the suicide attempt) and Kurt was OOC for feeling guilty, but tbh he told him multiple times they can be friends and then he still let him hang so that was understandable. I was really disappointed that Azimio didn't talk to Dave anymore either after he was outed. Everything was so cliched (and the teachers were all: not our fault either, we couldn't have known?!?!). Ugh, makes me mad, so much wasted potential for the sake of Blarren's "star potential" tbh.
