Poem stealing

Mar 21, 2008 16:17

I've had a problem with a FFN user called The Battling Bard, aka The Last Temptation of Homer. Me and a few others have caught her (or someone associating with her) attempting a frame up. It appeared she signed onto a LOTR site with my penname and then copy pasted stories that weren't hers or mine onto that account. I have screens, and one of the mods deleted her, but there wasn't much we could do about it since she claims she was "hacked". This, even after she posted a story consisting of three lines taken directly from The Lost Road, a LOTR novel. She deleted that before anyone could get a screen. :(

But now, she did it again:

Exhibit A:

This is Bard Note icon and date and time of last edit to her profile.

Link mention A Link mention B I had my pointers on each one (hence why two screens) Note the URL's on the bottom tool bar. Copy/paste those and see where you go.

Exhibit B:

This is Bard's cute poem

This is also Bard's Poem... here ... and the rest here. note the URL.

Here is another screen of her author page: note the URL and compare with the URL from Exhibit A screens. Now, unless someone "hacked" her and used her diction (and she never noticed?) then this is proof she made this Myfandom account herself.

Exhibit C:

This is her LJ

I screened in case she flocks the posts.

This is the entry she mentions that poem.

Now, this is where it gets interesting.

Meet Terachi. Say hi to Terachi on deviant art and FFN.

Read Terachi's cute poem: here
Seem familiar?

Oh and Bard seemed to like it didn't she? So much in fact, she copied the poem and claimed it for herself. Amazing.

Now, the one link to Open Scrolls will result in error because the poem was reported and removed. Yet, if Bard can prove, on a established account (meaning on the FFN profile of Terachi, or the Deviant Profile of Terachi) that she is indeed Terachi, or Terachi gave permission for her to use that poem (and claim it for herself), then I and
randy_o   will withdraw our accusation.

Can anyone help with proving Terachi is or isn't Bard?

ETA: I had, at the time of this post, tried twice to contact Terachi with no luck. And then someone from my LJ provided these links to some "idea stealing" by Bard.

A story posted on ff.net in 2006 by The Oboist in Lorien:

Am I the only one seeing a similarity here? No... here's one of the reviews to The Battling Bard's story by jules14, a former friend of TBB's.

I think one can hazard a guess that ff.net, which does not like URLs, deleted it from the review. The sentiment is the same, anyhow.

Hope this wasn't pointless, just thought I'd give you a heads-up.

ETA2: It seems Bard has removed her MyFandom account entirely, and has edited her FFN profile to omit the links shown in my screens and has deleted the story shown in my edit.
