I will be the moderator taking this case. I apologize for leaving it in the queue for so long, but art plagiarism tends to be a tricky beast compared to fic plagiarism, generally.
That said I will be doing some looking into the matter and will try to get this adjudicated soon.
thanks. In the meantime they deleted all the mentioned stolen art and it looks like they are "trying" to credit, but they still post uncredited art (it's pretty easy to find it when you scroll and then use google reverse image search).
Facebook. I had my art stolen and reposted there (and in tumblr actually) so often without people asked before for my permission they to doing so, I've just given up on my fight, those are unmanageable networks. :( Still I wish you good luck with this, I hope you get the art put down.
It's not just the stealing, it's the attitude they have.
As even my friends told me, that it wouldn't bother them as much if they credited while posting, might even let the art stay posted. Or talk it out like civilized people, but they got all snippy and started calling the artists names and basically telling them that they can go screw themselves, they have no rights since it's fanart and even told them not to post their art online if they don't want it stolen.
I know, I just let it be and try to never post something without watermarking it before. Then there are also those than cut the watermark out or blurr it, and you can't do a thing about it unless you ruin it by placing a watermark in the center of the picture, that's something bothering me so much on other people artwork. :((
Yeah, my friend told me that those jerks told her to sing/mark her stuff if she doesn't want it stolen (yet they posted even a watermarked piece on which's original post the artist specifically says not to post their stuff anywhere else).
She said she hates marking things, that it destroys the flow of most art pieces, but she hates even more that she apparently "has to" do it.
Wow, that's especially awful considering that according to the Facebook TOS, everything posted on their site becomes their property and they're free to do what they like with it without asking permission or providing any kind of recompense to the poster. I hope that they don't count cases where things that belong to others are posted without their permission, but then again this is Facebook we're talking about. Here's to hoping this gets resolved in a satisfactory manner.
