Art plagiarism in big and without shame
Posting for denig37 as requested by her since LJ won't let her.
I know that art gets stolen pretty often and it's hard to keep track of it, but in most cases if the plagiarist gets called out, the art taken down and they stop doing it.
Sadly in this case the plagiarists have no shame and knowingly even after being called art contiue posting art of other without properly crediting.
This is especially difficult to "report" on facebook as facebook doesn't have any policies protecting the fanartists (not like DeviantART).
I found a page on facebook HERE (called "Supernatural ~ To Hell And Back") after them posting an art piece made by me without crediting or my knowldge/permission. They were called out and after several hours of arguing it was finally taken down.
Problem is that after looking at their timeline I realized that I'm not the only artist they did (and still do) it to.
(screencaps of examples at the end of post...only examples since there is too much uncredited art posted - and they keep adding more - for me to go through)
As posting posting a fic of someone else without the writer's knowledge/permission and without crediting is considered plagiarism same goes for fanart.
Especially fanart that is actually copyrighted (and watermarked) under a copyright license from DeviantART like this one for example, a piece by HeroesDaughter on DA originally posted HERE where she specifically asks not to use/post her art without permission.
Example #2: Several SPN styled Games of Thrones fanart pieces (one of them poted HERE, crediting information that was added by me in a comment was removed), originally made and postec by rougevelvet on tumbler HERE.
Example #3: Cartoon Dean on a pie posted HERE, original under a copyright 2013 by veggiecake HERE on DA.
Example #4: The Boy King posted HERE, copyrighted 2012-2013 original by viickah HERE on DA.
Example #5: Wayward son posted HERE, original by Vondel Swain on tumblr posted HERE.
Example #6: I Am A Full Grown Man NOW posted HERE, copyrighted 2012-2013 original by Chenj27 HERE on DA.
And many many more. They stole art from artists like petite-madame! Art was stolen from artists on LJ, DA or tumblr.
I and a two or three friends of mine reported the page, but no results.
Other than not following the simple rules of courtesy towards fanartists:
1. You didn't make it, you DON'T post it!
2. If you post it CREDIT! Add SOURCE!
3. If you can't find the name to credit or don't have a source then DON'T post it!
They are actually breaking laws and show no sign of stopping anytime soon. They were called out several times to post crediting information and source with the pictures or not post at all, but the only result was name-calling and ban from page.
Screencaps of examples in case the FB posts get deleted in the meantime (which I doubt):
