There were times when Dorothy felt like her room was far too reminiscent of the Battleship Libra's brig: fit for a prisoner and far too small. Not that she had spent any substantial amount of time in that excuse for a holding area while the war had raged. No, the most she had seen of it was a passing glance during a quick tour of the ship upon arrival. Though she had been labelled a traitor near the end of the final battle, she hadn't been confined to that makeshift prison even after her outburst on the bridge. Ah, Mister Milliardo, you were always far too kind. Perhaps fate had decided to compensate for her excess in good fortune now ( ... )

Even when lost deep in thought, Izaya remained aware of his environment and the movements of the people around him; a necessary tactic where both his previous occupation and his survival were concerned - as an information broker it was only natural for him to remain forever observant and in tune with his surroundings, whilst as for survival, as long as a certain protozoan brute continued with his mindless attempts to kill him at every given opportunity, he had needed to remain alert -and it was a skill that came quite naturally to him. As such, he took note of the woman as she entered his line of vision, though as of yet she made no particular impression on him ( ... )

Serendipity had a way of being subtle. After throwing him a casual glance, she walked on, smirking slightly. A coat with fur trim? In this warm weather? Strange creature.

Then again, summer had ended and the Thor was adjusting its environmental controls accordingly. Perhaps he was simply being prepared. Hm...

Finding a nearby bench, she sat down observing how the leaves moved with the force of wind generated by the hidden vents. He stood a few feet away from where she had settled. Crossing her arms, she feigned indifference, pretending to watch the other refugees strolling by though actually keeping an eye on him.

There's a price to be paid from setting yourself apart from the pack.

Despite the subtly of her observations, it didn't take long for Izaya to realise that he was now being watched himself. He couldn't be certain of course, but there was something about the manner of her indifference and the occasional, intangible sensation of eyes falling across his form that set his senses on edge. It pulled him back from his silent musings, bringing his focus more sharply into the the world around him, and while he still kept her in the periphery of his vision she was now awarded with his undivided attention ( ... )

"It's been awhile since I've seen a fur coat," she shrugged.

Hm...an approach. She wasn't going to acknowledge just how aware she had been of his surveillance. Neither was she going to offer him a seat. Instead, she only had a cold stare to offer. The awkwardness of it was enough to cause most to shy away.
