Who: Miles Edgeworth (truthsnomiracle) and YOU!
What: Come reassure and (verbally) hug Edgeworth!
When: July 3rd, noonish
Where: Thor, Food Court, a small tea-serving stall
Warnings: Distinctly angsty falling action. (Can YOU lead him to a happy denouement?!)

Even the warmest cup of tea was cold comfort in this dark hour... )

Having failed to visit the planet just yet, Naoto didn't have a crystal above her head, but it was obvious that she was most likely unwell. Her hair was a little more untidy at least, the parts that poked out from under her cap and her skin was a shade pale. The slightly dark circles under her eyes appeared darker under the cap's brim.

Arthur barked and she blinked, looking up. Ah, her tea was ready. She paid the stall owner and picked up her cup, turning... pausing. Naoto stared at the crystal and then dropped her eyes. It was hovering above a man she'd seen on the network by chance... Oh wait. The captain's post had mentioned something about those things. Hm, she couldn't recall anything right now. She shook her head. Maybe... should she...?

The small black fox at her heels hopped along as the young detective approached.

"Excuse me..."

Edgeworth blinked and glanced up at this disheveled teenaged stranger. The combination of attention to clothing and serious unwellness was striking... strikingly familiar, that is. How many times had he seen a similar appearance in his own adoptive sister, both despite and because of perfectionism?

More importantly, why the attention?

"Yes?"

Disheveled or not, perfection wasn't what kept the small girl in boy's clothing going. It's just... someone had to in the absence of her team. Naoto held herself upright still before giving a glance at his red crystal.

"What exactly is that above your head?"

"A forcible handout by the residents of this planet," Edgeworth explained, sounding rather like a weary man mustering annoyance. "I've noticed that other refugees have been similarly saddled with these upon visiting."

Hans had been late with his errands. The weather was no longer hot and uncomfortable but that didn't change his plans of buying what new clothes he could. The process though had been harrowing. He hadn't known what to make of any of the shops. The first one he went into was too cheap, their quality was an insult to the body to wear, the second one had fashions he wasn't sure about, and then the ones he felt gravitated too cost too much for his current income. It was an arduous quest for the young man who would find he was again a failure at clothes shopping.

He carried the few bags he had managed to get with him through the food court. He looked as if he was trying to hold himself in composure yet only barely.

While he was looking for a place to sit he could not help but spy Edgeworth with his crystal. Did he want to know? No. But... he was horribly curious.

He slowly made his way towards the man and when he was within a few feed he cleared his throat softly.

"Excuse me... sir?"

Edgeworth blinked and turned his head towards the young adult who had spoken up. Finding that he was indeed the one being looked at by this fancily-dressed man for whatever reason, he replied coolly, "Yes?"

The reply made him hesitate just a bit. Despite the fact that he was trained in public relations, and usually came across quite competent in the right situation, he was still easily flustered and caught off guard. He stammers for a moment before continuing.

"I.. um, I was wondering what that was on your head. If you don't mind me asking."

Fortunately, that was a reaction that Edgeworth was all too used to, and a question that was rather obvious. "I cannot say that I know its name nor its purpose, but they are forced upon anyone who visits the surface by the planet's residents," he replied in an unimpressed tone.

[ He's been watching Edgeworth from afar for a few moments, tightly hugging several books to his chest as he studies the other man's face. He's seen those crystals here and there on the Thor, but never has he seen one so fiercely red. He doesn't know what the crystals are for, but he can certainly tell something is wrong.

When he's had enough contemplating, he boldly makes his way over. Careful that his books don't fall to the floor, he gives Edgeworth a wave. ]

Hello, Edgeworth.

[ Larsa offers Edgeworth a small smile before quietly adding: ]

I have heard tea tastes better when the general mood is happy.

Ah, Larsa. ...Um... I heard mention of your rank over the network. Should I revise my form of address?

[Personal problems? What personal problems? There certainly isn't a blatant broadcast of their presence hovering over his head, is there? ...Oh, wait.]

[ All he gives Edgeworth at first is a blank stare. Every single person from his world who arrived after him had dropped either a Lord or an Emperor title over the network... except for Balthier. He really should just stop trying to hide it at this point. ]

No. That will not be necessary. After all, we are on the Thor, not in my world. Though do not think I haven't noticed how you avoided my statement about your mood. I find talking about it helps, though if you do not wish to do so....

(Damn.)

Discussion of the past will not change it. Furthermore, the... the case involved is solved.

[Doesn't mean it isn't obviously bothering him anyway.]

[Kanda had decided to go for a good cup of black tea himself, thankful his shifts were going to end for good soon. Exams were the only thing he needed to do now-- correct them and pass in the scores for a final grade. But he caught sight of the gloomy prosecutor from line, and after getting his tea, decided to see what was the problem today. Even if it wasn't his usual thing to comfort acquaintances.]

...Oi.

[Edgeworth peers suspiciously at the long-haired man. Their initial encounter hasn't exactly been pleasant. As such, all Kanda got in response to his greeting was a wary nod.]

[No, it hadn't been. But well, if Edgeworth was going to make it his business to harass others about their health...]

Tch. What're you moping over?

[Edgeworth stares down into his cup.]

Uncomfortable conclusions.
