The chaos -- and allergic reactions -- induced by the Drive's side-effect this time had served well as a distraction from the
deep turmoil that had been awakened in him shortly beforehand. However, distractions by their very nature do not address the roots of the issues that they distract from... in this case, roots that ran deep into Edgeworth's psyche and past. Thus, as the physical vegetation within the Thor receded, the ugly emotional weed that had been mowed down by the more immediate concerns of heat and pollen was quick to sprout once more.
One thing of use that had happened during transit was that
a kind young lady had introduced Edgeworth to a small stand in a well-lit alley of the food court that served several kinds of Earth-like tea in hot, iced, and even slushed forms, complete with such popular additives as lemon, sugar, and milk. Even the warmest cup of tea was cold comfort in this dark hour, though, a fact that might have been apparent in the fact that Edgeworth was now glumly swirling half a mug's worth of Earl Grey with milk at one of the two small, round, umbrella-bearing wooden tables that served as the Quain Tea Patio's entire set of seating accomodations.
If the prosecutor's demeanor didn't give him away, however, the bright, torchlike scarlet of the crystal floating above his head might. It certainly revealed to those who understood the significance that this was more than just another bad day...
