[Argument time!]

Not specifically. However, you have made two questionable claims in total, not one. While the claim of nationhood is the more difficult one to believe on its face, if your other assertion does not hold water, it will damage your overall credibility.

I do not recall any such claims. At least, nothing about clothing.

Evidence is not always obvious in its connection to a case.

[Speaking of that other assertion... Edgeworth returns his attention to America.]

You seem the sort who would seek out the public eye.

[Canada sits patiently and waits to be called on.
Maybe this time, because Mister Edgeworth is here, he won't be overlooked? (One can hope...)
Even if no one takes notice of him, it is still good to hear what they are talking about!]

[Since America seems to have decided to snub him for the time being and no one else seems to be volunteering information at this time, Edgeworth begins walking to within conversational distance of other "countries".]

As the purported America's quieter twin brother, I presume that you are supposed to be Canada.

[He flushes slightly at that-] S-sorry, we're not twins...
[But he recovers at the happy fact that he's in a meeting, and he's been called on. ...Finally!]

Y-yes, I am Canada.

I don't suppose that you are prepared to support that assertion, as opposed to taking offense to the question?

[...If Canada took offence every time someone asked him 'who are you', he would have a very different (much more scary) reputation.]

Ah, I'll do my best, Mister Edgeworth.

(It would seem that this one will be simpler to deal with.)

It would be simplest to begin with general questions. What makes a genius loci different from a human being? Things that lie outside of the realm of human possibility are of particular interest.

...Genius loci? [You might be better off asking Italy about that?

But Canada gets what he's after, and gives Japan a slightly nervous look. Good thing they'd talked about these things during the meal?]

Well, we can tell who is ours. Th-that is, from our home. C-county. [*deep breath*]
If there were a line of people we hadn't met yet, we would be able to tell who is ours. B-but it's not just by visible characteristics. Even if they look like they are from a different country, we can tell if they are f-from our country.

[[ooc to the countries: apologies if this ends up bringing up details that are outside of your personal headcanon of how our guys do this. I'll try to make it as much from Canada's personal experience as possible!]]

That is borderline inadmissible... though theoretically testable. A pity that the Thor's refugee population seems too small a sample to draw from.

[Canada blushes at having his idea seemingly shot down. With a glance at the others, he tentatively raises his voice to try and answer him.]

I- I don't understand why it would be inadmissible. You're t-trying to find out about things you've never seen before, so w-wouldn't it be good to try and test what you can?

[...Well. He didn't expect to hurt his feelings... Time to attempt to be gentle.]

It borders on being inadmissible primarily because it veers perilously close to spectral evidence. For this purpose, however, it isn't necessarily so, given that it is the capability itself that is being tested for and such tests would be theoretically possible. Unfortunately, the appropriate sapient resources upon the Thor seem insufficient to the task; it seems unlikely that there is a Canadian there that you haven't met. (To say nothing of the ease of tainting the sample in such an environment.)

[He blushes hotly-- well, sorry that there are so few Canadians! He's actually really worried that so many of his people might have been--

After a moment Canada gathers himself again.]

Sorry... But, p-perhaps you could watch the new arrivals and wait for a chance to test me? O-or, maybe one of the others would be all right with being tested like that? If- if they don't mind...

[Edgeworth nods.] An excellent suggestion. That is likely the best means by which to conduct such a test available under the circumstances.

Is there anything else that differs, perhaps something more immediately verifiable?
