The dark beach just outside the light cast by the bonfires invisibill June 24 2010, 15:00:11 UTC
[Danny had loaded a plate full of a few foods that he thought he recognized and made his way to a quiet spot in the darkness just outside the bonfires. Some of those dishes reminded him way too much of his Mom's more creative (and dangerous) ecto-cooker experiments.

He was hoping to stay on the sidelines and just watch tonight. But knowing his luck? Not very likely.]

[Aoko had immediately found herself a plate of scallops, just as the boy over the network had suggested earlier. She wasn't necessarily looking for some place to eat alone (it was a party; socializing was what was expected of her), but her search for somewhere to sit and eat accidentally caused her to stumble on Danny's area outside of the bonfire]

Ah-- [she stopped as she caught sight of him, lips quirking into a sheepish smile]

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you.

[Danny picks up his food and moves a little to the side. In the darkness the firelight reflects off his eyes oddly as he smiles lazily up at the older girl.]

Don't worry about it. My mistake for thinking this was far enough out of the way.

[Her gaze flickers back to the bonfires, then back to Danny, expression still apologetic. She holds her plate in one hand and lifts the other to fiddle with the ring of flowers hanging across her neck awkwardly]

I could go back toward the fire if you wanted to be alone, or if you're waiting for someone. [a small bow; she really didn't mean to intrude on any time he wanted to spend by himself]

[Maka probably shouldn't be here on the planet. The doctors strictly told her that her body needed as much rest as possible and not to strain it too much. They were, indeed, right -- her body's still a tad bit weak from the encounter with Vincent -- despite that her wounds are looking much better than comparison from weeks before. But when she heard about the Luau on the network, it was something that she couldn't ignore.]

[So the Meister sits further away from the main attraction, drinking juice from a coconut through a straw. It wasn't because she didn't like what was going on, it's more so standing around with a whole crowd of people(and being short as she is) was difficult to see the entertainment. So Maka decides to watch the ocean instead, enjoying the beautiful scenery.]

[Dokugakuji isn't really a party guy, but he'd been curious about the event and in all honesty he needed a break after working alone after Hiei had quit.]

[As he wanders away from the center of the action he notices a familiar face sitting out alone and decides to come over.]

What're you doing sitting out here all alone?

[Hearing a voice, Maka glances up and sees someone familiar on their way over. She's taken by how tall he is, because after all - she never met him in person - only on video.]

...! Hey, Dokugaku. Oh, I'm just watching the ocean. It's way too crowded over there and uh...I can't really see what's going on. So, I came here. It's just as nice.

[They breed 'em tall in Shangri-La.]

[He's not too surprised she's so petite, he got that impression from the video feeds he'd seen of her.]

Yeah, it's pretty crazy in there, it was a little much for me. Pretty sure I saw a tentacle monster wearing a grass skirt.

Mind if I join you?

[He knows he shouldn't come to these things, but he does anyway; his old feelings thinking about how there could be spies here, how someone is going to slit his throat, how someone is going to poison him, and a thousand other unnecessary paranoid fears. Yet, here he finds himself, soaking in the heat from the fire, still wearing his leather jacket and leather gloves. you'd think it'd be uncomfortable, but he rather enjoys it.]

[One day we need to talk about that paranoia of your, Wuertz. Kurt wonders how's that you can wear that and not die from the heat.]How odd to see you here. Hello.

[Of course it's you, Kurt. Alex makes some room for you.]

I had nothing better to do.

[He stalks you to be sure you don't get yourself killed, is that so bad? Kurt smile sin appreciation and sits down. He has a drink in his hands.]Neither do I, for a chance. The heat doesn't bother you?

[After picking up a drink at the bar, Sanzo settled himself at a deserted table. One of the locals handed him a plate and motioned for him to dig in. Sanzo waved him off and looked down at it. It was overflowing with a wierd mix of crab and what looked like grilled plants. He pushed it to the side for the moment and instead focused on his drink.

It was far to sweet for his tastes, but for the moment it would do. Sanzo settled back and watched the party from his seat.]

[Goku popped up by the table-- eying Sanzo's plate, he grinned broadly]

Gonna eat that?

[He saw this coming a mile away]

[Sliiiides the plate to the empty seat next to him]

Be my guest.

[Kimblee walked down the beach, wearing a more casual version of his usual attire. A clean white tank top, pants cuffed at the calves to keep them clean, and sandals. He carried a towel - the towel - in his hands, searching for a good spot. When he came upon it, he set the towel down on the sand and sat with his eyes toward the ocean.

He let out a long sigh. He'd always done his best thinking around dusk, when the sun's dying light gave way to darkness. He'd done a lot of thinking in Ishbal, too, when the day's fighting had been completed, and the only sound left on the air was the wailing of the wretched gathering their dead. He missed it. It was like a tune of a loving mother, that helped one drift into peaceful sleep.

But that was the past. Looking forward was what he needed to do now. This new environment had given him plenty of things to think about, and what he determined he needed to do was see exactly where he fit in the grand scheme of things. He'd obviously been chosen. Chosen. Just like he had been in Ishbal ( ... )

[While Gin doesn't particularly care either way for crowds, there's a suffocatingly large amount of aliens here. He shunpos in between them, trying to find a space to himself. Amusingly, he's abanadoned his hakama for a white shirt with too-long sleeves, black pants, and bare feet. His wakisashi is hooked around his waist.

Eventually he finds some space near the shore, and the only person around seems to be a gentleman lying on a towel. he stands, admiring the shore at length. Oceans are new and fascinating, really.]

[Movement just out of his range of vision stirred the Crimson Alchemist from his reverie. He turned his head slightly to see who else was now occupying the beach; it was a man he remembered seeing a few times on the feeds. He appeared young, but his hair was completely silver, and he was tall and thin. His eyes were squinted into slits, and he had pointy features that gave him the appearance of a fox.

Kimblee noticed the man looking in his general direction, so he nodded his head silently at him to acknowledge his presence.]

Where I'm from, we don't have oceans.

[He hooks his thumbs into his pants pockets. He might even look a bit uncomfortable, unaccustomed to moving without the flowing layers of cloth around him. he's well aware how rail-thin he is without them.

He sits down next to the tanning man, regardless of how the guy feels about it. he doesn't seem distraught by Gin's compan, so sitting shouldn't matter anyway.]

Not much sun, either.
