UNBELIEVABLE.

I'm sorry to bring something like this to your attention, and I'll just state that if you don't have the energy to get up at arms over homosexual "Bashing," move along. I received an email from a company whose products I have used in the past, a company who (as a Master Gardener) I have recommended to others. I am now emphatically taking that ( Read more... )

oh em gee, essays, rant, gardening, mean girl rant

Dude, I got a reply! Has anyone else gotten a reply? I figure they have...

Anyway, here it is:

Campbell, thank you for your comments we have forwarded your email to Mr. Hake. He does disapprove of the violence, rape, etc on TV as well and has also complained about those issued, he just happened to see these two shows back to back and felt that CBS was trying to push an agenda. He did not intend to attack anyone personally and does feel sorry for the hurt he has caused people.

WHOA! I have yet to get a response, but that's something!

"He did not intend to attack anyone personally" no, just a whole GROUP of people. Yow.

I'm still waiting for my email!

Yeah, and notice he didn't consider violence on television worth contacting his mailing list about...

Just to insert a little humor, can you imagine how pissed his poor IT guys are at him right now?

Here from Slod's journal. I bet he's been hauled over the coals bigtime for this and that email is damage control. Seriously, even if the company has an unwritten policy of We Hate Fags, he should have had a serious bollocking for being so stupid and putting the company in the public eye in such a contentious way.

Do you think perhaps he's gone mental?

Oh, no doubt the email is damage control. I've been poking around online and other people have gotten similar responses. They're just not effective...

felt that CBS was trying to push an agenda

If homosexuality started popping up in all of CBS's programming, including the "family shows," I could see some reason to cry "Conspiracy!" Though I wouldn't have much problem with a conspiracy of tolerance. ;) But these were shows that pride themselves on unflinching realism-- good and bad, ugly and beautiful, uplifting and degrading. It only makes sense for them to sometimes have gay characters and themes.

does feel sorry for the hurt he has caused people.

He probably also feels grieved and disgusted over the number of people who support/embrace/tolerate homosexuality. ... That's uncharitable for me to say, I know, but I can't help imagining the kinds of comments he's exchanging with like-minded friends.

Anyway, yay for getting a response!

Oh, I totally agree! I can practically hear the rationalizations he's making up to defend himself from all the rational responses he's getting, so that he can keep pretending he has the high ground.

He complains, and yet he was still watching the show. With his kids.

Huh?

Obviusly he was watching it in order to search for those nasty same-sex relationship portrayals so that he could warn all of his customers about them, in case his customers might not be aware that there are people in the world -- and probably on his mailling list -- who love people of the same gender.

Just out of curiosity, did your response read like this or this?

Because it's looking like they're not even reading the emails at this point...just sending out a canned response.

The response I got is here: http://stoney321.livejournal.com/177578.html?thread=6701226#t6701226

Not exactly the same, but a variation on the theme. I didn't really expect a personalized response.

I visited their site just now to see if they were committed to their opinions enough to post it on their pages. Could find nothing at first. I searched their site for the word "gay". Found this: Gayfeather Thickspike. I'm sure it's a flower, though it would be a great name for a queer superhero, or maybe just a high-priced dildo.

I'm sorry, but I CRACKED UP at this...

Anyway, the way President Troy feels about homosexuals is the same way people felt about bi-racial couples...and that was supposed to be sinful as well. Not to mention that those bigots even tried to use the Bible to support their hate, which in itself is completely contradictory to what the Bible is supposed to teach, so...I also find it amusing that this guy (and the government apparently with their using God to justify outlawing gay marriage) completely forgets that Separation of Church and State and Freedom of Religion is written PLAIN AS DAY in the Constitution
