Needing some company that didn't purr, Orla ventured to Five Alarm for the first time in a while. She'd not been too hungry during the cold snap of the past few weeks, but now that the temperature wasn't unmanageably cold, she thought venturing out to eat a good way to start the new year. Start with less worrying.
She took a seat at a small table, ordering a small shepard's pie, and when the waitress left, she looked around with interest. The same people, true, but a new year could make things seem fresher. More full of possibilities. She just needed to not worry about what the possibilities.
She laughed a bit to herself when she realized that she'd started worrying about her worrying. She shook her head, drawing designs in the condensation pooling on the table beneath her water glass. There was more important things she could worry about. Still, she wasn't about to let the future, in 2006, make her feel like she couldn't handle it. She absently began folding her napkin, making shapes as she waited for her meal.
