Date: December 20th, 2005 Character(s): Lavender Brown, open Location: The Market Status: Public Summary: Lavender braves the cold to pick up something for dessert from the market. Completion: InComplete
Stoatshead Hill really needed an indoor market. Luna trudged through the snow, shivering, and pulled her scarf up higher on her neck. The wind felt like it was biting into her skin, and the snow was coming down so quickly that it was downright difficult to see through. Warming charms were keeping her feet and hands warm, at least, but they could only do so much against weather this relentlessly cold after so long
( ... )
Hearing someone greet her, Lavender took a skittering step back, a little astonished. She steadied herself, managing not to slip on the ice and in grinned in embarrassment. "Oh, hello, Luna! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to Apparate so close to you."
She pulled her cloak tighter. "I'm managing. Barely. Just moved into a new house and the heating isn't brilliant, I'm afraid. What about you? Are there a lot of people coming into the hospital?"
Luna only smiled. "Well, how could you have known?"
"You've moved, really? That's wonderful. I hope your new house has a nice fireplace, at least, even if the heating is older. Lately I've been spending a lot of time in front of mine," she said. "I'm well, even if it's incredibly cold all the time. We've had to keep Pepper-up heavily stocked. More colds and fevers than I care to count, really. You've no idea how hard it is to keep such a big place adequately warm -- well, actually you do know." She laughed slightly at herself; Lavender was there too, even if they didn't work in the same departments.
Lavender shrugged, trying not to shiver from the biting cold. "I suppose I couldn't have."
She nodded. "Yes. In with Ron, actually. We finally took the plunge and moved in together." Lavender frowned. "Ah, yes. I remember what it was like this time last year - lots of people moving to town and all those colds going around. It wasn't this cold, though!" Lavender sighed. "Yes. It's a nightmare, isn't it? We're trying our best to keep the ward warm but it's not easy."
