Irma walked home from Caradoc's, muttering to herself as she walked. Apparating would have been quicker, but then she wouldn't have had the pleasure of kicking every rock on the way, and imagining his face on every one of them. Why had she thought that she would like to spend time with an overbearing oaf of a man, who seemed to think that she couldn't do anything on her own? Granted, at first it had been lovely to be treated in that manner, after so long time of being on her own, but that was also a part of the problem: she had been on her own for so long that she had managed to figure out how to do most things on her own.

While she liked spending time with Caradoc, both in public as well as in bed, something had to be done with the extreme protecting thing he had going on.

She kicked the next rock extra hard. "Stupid men," she muttered. "Stupid, stupid men."

Kingley had heard what sounded like a small scuffle coming from around the corner. He drew his wand and cautiously made his way forward. What he found instead of what he expected was an obviously put out Irma Pince.

"We are fairly stupid. Are you sure you want to be taking whatever we men have done out on a rock though, Mrs. Pince?" He was amused, but was careful to keep his face neutral. He'd seen her angry at other Aurors and he certainly didn't want that ire aimed at himself.

Irma paused, as she heard a somewhat familiar voice. "Auror Shacklebolt, how… unexpected to see you here."

She sniffed. "I think that taking it out on the rocks is infinitely preferable to the alternative, in this case."

"On patrol, ma'am. It's been a quiet night," at least it had been before he encountered rogue librarians attempting mayhem on poor defenseless rocks.

"I suppose I should be grateful you're not out kicking us stupid men. Might I inquire what has you assaulting the landscape?" Kingsley wasn't entirely sure he wouldn't live to regret asking, she was likely to either give him an earful or a cold shoulder, but he wouldn't be an Auror if he didn't want to help.
