Colin had been unexpectedly quiet since their last night in Lisbon. Or mabye, Dennis thought, it was to be expected. He could only remember 3 times when their parents had seqeuesterd themselves with Colin for 'a talk', and this time he didn't think it was good ( ... )

Neville looked up as a young man holding a dog wandered into the nursery.

"Hello, there! Are you here for the pumpkin picking? I'd be happy to let your little one try his hand at carving, but I'm afraid he might lose out against those with opposable thumbs." Holding out a hesitant hand to pat the dog, he said, "Do you mind if I pet him?"

Pumkpin picking? That could be fun. That's a good idea Sorry, I'm a bit o out of it, been a away for a bit."

Maybe he'd take one home to Hammerside and see if Dean wanted to draw a design to carve on it.

Dennis laughed.

"She'd love it if you did. No worries, she doesn't bite, but she might lick you to death."

He needed to remember to make a mental note and start getting his plants for the Hammerside garden from here rather than out of town. It'd be a lot easier and it's give the town and Neville, whom he'd always liked business.

Neville grinned and scratched softly behind the dog's ears. "You're not here simply for pumpkins then, I suppose? Is there anything else I can help you with? The young ones seem rather settled for the moment, so if there's anything you need, just ask... Dennis, right?"

Maire had only heard about the pumpkin carving this morning, but wanted to go, and Viktor had no other plans, so he made sure she was wearing a warm jumper and off they went to the nursery.

When they arrived, there were pumpkins set out along a table, and children already there working on a couple. He thought probably she could just pick one, and she was tugging him toward one with an irregular dent in one side, but he looked around for Neville, in case there was a system.

Neville looked up from helping one of the smallest children handle a set of Muggle paints--the face painting idea for those too young to hold cutting implements had been a rather startling success--and saw Viktor standing holding the hand of a rather impatient little imp.

Grinning broadly at the little girl, he walked over, wiping his hands on a towel he had tossed over one shoulder and said, "Here for the pumpkin carving?"
