Colin had been unexpectedly quiet since their last night in Lisbon. Or mabye, Dennis thought, it was to be expected. He could only remember 3 times when their parents had seqeuesterd themselves with Colin for 'a talk', and this time he didn't think it was good.

Romy and Cormac were going to have some issues with their unofficial in-laws, whereas Dennis had been told by his Mum "to enjoy being young" and by his Dad "to bring his bloke around when he found one." Conflicting messages, or so Dennis thought, once more.

But he wasn't in the mood to ruminate on them at the the moment. He was glad to be back in England with it's weather, and his life here, but not quite ready to take up responsiblity again.

Monday he would go back to the Quidditch office, today he was taking Schotzie for a walk, letting their feet carry them where they would, before stumbling upon a nursery; surely Neville's.

Picking up his dog as he wasn't sure how Neville felt about canines (or much else as they had never really been friends as school), Dennis wandered over to say hello.

Neville looked up as a young man holding a dog wandered into the nursery.

"Hello, there! Are you here for the pumpkin picking? I'd be happy to let your little one try his hand at carving, but I'm afraid he might lose out against those with opposable thumbs." Holding out a hesitant hand to pat the dog, he said, "Do you mind if I pet him?"

Pumkpin picking? That could be fun. That's a good idea Sorry, I'm a bit o out of it, been a away for a bit."

Maybe he'd take one home to Hammerside and see if Dean wanted to draw a design to carve on it.

Dennis laughed.

"She'd love it if you did. No worries, she doesn't bite, but she might lick you to death."

He needed to remember to make a mental note and start getting his plants for the Hammerside garden from here rather than out of town. It'd be a lot easier and it's give the town and Neville, whom he'd always liked business.

Neville grinned and scratched softly behind the dog's ears. "You're not here simply for pumpkins then, I suppose? Is there anything else I can help you with? The young ones seem rather settled for the moment, so if there's anything you need, just ask... Dennis, right?"

"No, was just wandering. But I've been getting all of Hammerside's plants from Exeter, and I need to stop that."

"Thing is I'm not a natural at this like I remember you being, so I've been following books. I think I've got the fall and winter stuff in, cold crops?. But I'll need to start planning ahead on what we need to plant for the spring."

He shrugged, not knowing if it was possible. "Ideally, I'd like the garden there to give us all the veg we need year round. I'm just not sure how to go about planning or planting for that."

"A spring garden? Just vegetables or did you want fruits, as well? There are all sorts of berry bushes that produce in the early spring. If you know anyone who's good at making jellies or whatnot, that'd be an excellent crop. I'm thinking of planting some around the house for my own use, as I'm a bit partial to mixed-berry wine."

Neville stepped back and gestured to the greehouse around them. "Regardless, though, I can certainly help you out with what to plant and when to plant it. And if I don't have the crops myself, I can certainly point you in the right direction or order them for you. You have a community garden out there, right?"

"Yes. To a spring garden that is. I hadn't thought of fruits." Which was rather dense of himself, Dennis realized as he did own a juice or smoothie bar. "But that would be good. The ones we don't use we could always freeze for later."

"It's kind of a community garden. I mean we share the spoils, but I'm the one who works in it. That's my rent."

Dennis added in case, Neville hadn't talked to Dean about Hammerside and how thing worked there. "We, Dean's tenants, don't pay rent. Not in money. Instead we contribute to the place. My contribution is taking care of the garden."
